[2.0] Plugin data caching: Best practice? Examples?

Hi,

I am developing a plugin where I would like to cache a variable’s data, and I was wondering if EE 2.0 has any code to help me create/check/delete cache files?

Anyone know of any 2.0 plugins that utilize data caching? I learn best by example.
