Problem with MSM and file uploads

I’m working on an MSM site where the home pages use Mark Huot’s file upload field. The first site was completed quite a while ago and am just working on a new site added to the installation now.

I was having trouble uploading images using the file field for the new site so changed it to nGen file field and it fixed the problem for the new site, but although the original site’s field settings were still the same and the images were still viewable on the entry, nothing was showing in the template. Changing the new site’s field type back again fixed the problem on the old site’s home page.

But fields aren’t supposed to be able to affect other sites on the installation like that are they?

Are you using the site parameter in your weblog tags?

{weblog:entries weblog="foo" site="siteB" disable="trackbacks|member_data|categories"}

No, I thought that was only required if you wanted to pull in entries from a different site.

Did you duplicate your SiteA data when creating SiteB?

I duplicated some template groups and file upload locations, but not actual weblog data.

Tyssen,

Doesn’t Mark’s extension directly affect the file upload settings? Did you disable that extension before going ahead with nGen’s Add-on?

I am going to move this thread into the third-party Extensions forum as it is more appropriate there

No, both were still active when I changed the fieldtype, but I’m worried about disabling anything as there seems to be changes from one site leaking across into another. That’s why I posted in technical support rather than here.
