Pagination not working on new posts

I am having the same problem as this thread. I’m using the simple pagination plugin, which has worked perfectly in the past and still functions on all my old issues. However, I noticed today when I posted that instead of pointing to the second page of the article, the pagination links (something like “domain.com/department/article/url_title”), it points to “domain.com/P2”

I upgraded my version and build today and reinstalled the plugin. The reason I’m posting this here, in tech support, as opposed to in the plugin forum, is because I’m not sure if this is a plugin problem. Is it some sort of auto_path problem? Why would the old stories still function correctly? Feel free to move this post if incorrectly assigned.

Thank you!

Yes, I’d think it’s an issue with the plugin. Have you tried the built-in EE method? You are, of course, removing index.php from the URL?

Yes, I am removing index.php

I use the built-in method for paginating lists of posts. I thought there was no native way to split single posts into multiple pages without separate custom fields (sorry, should have clarified – I am paginating single entries using this plugin).

Hmm - I’m not sure what the plugin is using to generate its auto_path, but you could try checking the weblog preferences (path settings) and make sure your paths are pointing to the correct place?

My path settings haven’t changed from when it was working, but I verified them just in case. For dept url I have “{homepage}only_online/article/” and for comment page/search results I have “{homepage}only_online/article/” with “only_online” being the name of the department.

What version and build of EE are you on? Do you’ve got a link? Are you using any other third-party extensions?

Version 1.6.8, Build: 20091201

Yes, I am using many other extensions. Right now since the pagination is broken, I have it turned off, so I don’t have a live example of the error. It used to work, as you can see here:

http://uvamagazine.org/only_online/article/16_reasons_to_love_fall_in_cville

Now, it simply links to uvamagazine.org/P2

Brittany, this should have been moved to “Plugins” quite a while ago. Let me do this for you now.

Have you added a 404 page recently?

We had the same problem, pagination worked again once we deleted the 404 code in each template.

If not that it may be some other conditional statement in the top of your template.

Strange! I will definitely try that.

Weird discovery/update: realized that pagination works in all articles except ones that contain embedded videos. Something with the object or embed tags messing up the plugin?

Sorry to repeat the inquiry, but might anyone have an idea how an object or embed tag would mess up simple pagination? I think I’ve read elsewhere on the forums that these tags make other stuff screwy, but I can’t seem to find a fix. Any ideas?
