Good afternoon EExperts.
I’ve recently began a project with 1.6.8 and am thrilled to be working with it.
I’ve installed a couple of extensions that I need for building this site- first the mark huot file plugin.
While that appeared to install via the Extensions Utility, the usual dialog (allow multiple uploads etc) did not appear in each set file upload preference area. So I decided to uninstall this one and use field frames instead.
After installing field frames, I installed n_gen and cp Jquery. These too, appeared to install via Extension Manager and prefs appeared to work. After assigning a custom field to n_gen and testing it out, I noticed all of its jquery function, like deletion, were not working. I went back to field frames to allow the matrix field type to see what that did, and this was also broken. I was unable to assign columns or set up the matrix in any way other than setting a maximum number of rows, then going to post to an entry with this matrix field yielded 3 major PHP errors, which was to be expected.
What I’m trying to say is, I’m 0 for 3 in installing extensions to this install. n_gen installed and worked correctly as part of an extension, but the limitations posed by other extensions not being functioning, all root extensions, make this an impossible situation.
One of these plugins (jquery) came with the install. The other two plus one component were by 3rd party but all different authors, yet no extension correctly installs.
Can anyone offer help, even if its to state the obvious? Please do! lol
Thanks, Caroline
Hi Caroline,
Might want to start with checking the JQuery - visit the Control Panel admin area, view source (or ideally use Firebug in FireFox) and check the JQuery extension is listed. If it is, copy out the path and paste into another browser window to ensure it’s a valid link.

another issue with field frame being involved.
Wonder if this is related to my issue in this thread as well.

I have tried a complete roll back now and my site is completely foo-bar’d! Potentially due to Fieldframe changing the database and that is looking for something that is causing the problem.
Ok this is *Solved.
It was a pathing issue.
The path to the fieldtypes folder needs to be set from the root dir, not just with the system folder as the root. (That’s why they call it a URL, smartypants.)
Am working in an unusual situation with an extra directory between the system folder and the site root. Woops!
Just ignore me 😊
