Hi eeC, I have a problem. Basically I have Issues. My mom’s friend runs a hostel. She came to me asking for some help after she had to cancel a holiday because she could not get days off. The hostel takes bookings on the phone. This time it just happened that the month was busy due to a Monster Truck Event that was happening in the village.
Now the problem…. 2 in fact.
HOSTEL 1. Book rooms online. 2. Offer cheap deals or just deals online. 3. Cancel reservation 4. have online help, either chat or skype. 5. Friendly search–> Enter room type, dates, etc and find possible match. This is not VERY important. 6. Blog or Forum with Gallery. this list is just a hint.
EVENTS 1. Sale event tickets on the website.
I have done the HTML CSS Template for the Hostel part except the events TAB. I am starting to look into JQuery AJAX as it offers friendly solutions.
I am not vast with EE. But Am convinced this solution is very, very, very possible here.
Any ideas how this can be done?
Nelson
I think this kinda thing is very very doable on EE. It might require a module or plugin but it will work, am not sure about the new features in EE Version2. It might be worth waiting as we may be reinventing the wheel. Otherwise am just done with the frontend and starting with the backend plan.
Did any of you find a solution to this isssue. I have written a basic Hostel Room Booking script for multiple hostels. Its very Basic but can be used by anyone easily and it uses PAYPAL only. Have a look at safarista
Let me know what you think.
Well am not sure I can say its for sale. The number of support tickets would be quite overwhelming. It’s a work in progress as am doing it in free time when am not studying.
It’s well commented but no documentation yet. I wanted to learn best practices so I made sure I commented it like a mad cow.
Its an extension I built so its probably super buggy and will need verification from a more experienced developer. This is my first project as a codder though. I do graphic design and HTML/CSS, and £D CG stuff.
anyways am afraid its not production standard yet, someday it will when I have more time.
