It should be pointed out that the Foxy Cart component requires a monthly subscription.

    Well done on the launch!

Thanks for the support guys, I appreciate all of your help and feedback.

Steve is right, FoxyCart does have a monthly subscription of $15 dollars. This equates to $180 a year which is very affordable when you consider the work involved to run a PCI compliant server. We have been working with the great team at FoxyCart to include new features in FoxEE like the JSON cart object. There is a lot more coming down the road so it is only going to get better.

I forgot to mention in my post that you can view a demonstration of FoxEE by “purchasing” one of our free products which takes you through the checkout process.

Some questions about FoxEE:  Does it work well with the MSM?  Is there some documentation on how to deploy it?  And how did you use the SSL certs?  Can you use your own, or does Foxycart have to do them?

    Hi Vanceone,

Yes, FoxEE is MSM capable. You can use the foxee_site parameter in your templates. All of the documents are included with the module on the Documents tab in the control panel.

SSL certs are handled through your FoxyCart account. You can either purchase one through them or supply your own. You can also use your own domain name with their checkout templates instead of their default foxycart sub-domain. (Even your own favicon!)

    Hope this helps

    Mike

    Hi Michael, congratulations!
Any chance of showing some screens of the backend? Hardest selling point of hosted shopping cart is the fact that:
    1. client now has monthly fees before any profits made
    2. client has to manage inventory and site content separately
    Thanks again!

    Hi Lebisol,

Thank for your support, I’m not a big fan of hosted shopping carts either. Thats what makes FoxyCart so different and why we decided to take on this project. FoxyCart is designed to integrate into content management systems and they have several modules available for CMS’s other then EE. (But the FoxEE/FoxyCart combo is the best 😉 )

Yes there is some setup on the FoxyCart side but all of your products are managed within your EE control panel. It really depends on what you are selling. We do not have anything on the FC servers, everything is handled locally, we only pass off the product info and price to FC for processing, and if it were necessary, shipping costs and coupons.

In regards to monthly fees, I understand your concern. I had the same thought and did some math to see if this was a viable replacement to running self hosted products like CS-Cart or OS-Comm. The answer is it depends. I view the e-commerce market as three levels. Ma & Pop, Midlevel and enterprise. For a basic Ma & Pop store EE’s Simple Commerce module, or a service like network solutions is perfect. FoxEE answers a huge void in the mid level and enterprise markets. The biggest selling point to me was scaleability. Running mid to large scale e-commerce sites costs an average of 30% less using the FoxEE/FoxyCart solution.

We have been planning to put up some screen shots on our website, you should see them soon.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Thanks for the follow up.
I agree on many points, often I have seen people even abandon idea of ‘site’ just because of the stand that ‘I just want to sell on my site’ and reach for cubecart,os-commerce etc. Not that they are not good packages it is just that design is very one dimensional and specialized.

Other abandon Simple Commerce just because of aesthetics or name branding of a shopping cart (lack of with paypal).
Post again with updates, would love to stay informed on this module.
    Thank you!

Great timing! I’d love to see some screenshots of the EE backend before purchasing, but this sounds like the exact solution we’ve been looking for.

How are the subscription options?  Will it auto track them and renew them?  I share the desire for a screenshot or three.

We now have screenshots on the FoxEE documentation page.

You have several options for subscriptions. One time charge or recurring, Auto renewal, subscription length and a free trial period. You can also set email reminders for subscriptions coming due.

Thanks for the those screenshots. Any chance you can drop some text info in for each so we know what it is we’re looking at?

    Cheers
