Is the forum dying?

It seems that there are less and less interesting discussions and contributions. As long as there were things on the forum i could learn from i was glad to pass on the information but now when there isn’t much to learn any more the newbie questions are beginning to annoy me.

Is this just me or do others share my thoughts? Maybe it’s just quiet before the storm and it’s going to change after the 1.7 release?

With 1.7 things will change I guess, but I do agree we’re seeing a lot of newbie questions, one more annoying than the other. I think this is because CI is getting more popular, drawing more attention and thus drawing more “noobs”.

Also, in your case, isn’t it true that you’ve become somewhat of a CI guru, so there isn’t much too learn anyhow?

I think there is still much to learn, i’m not even close being a guru. If i knew everything i would make my own perfect framework 😉 There are a lot of people smarter than me or just more informed about some things.

Chalk it up to the recession/economic woes. I know I don’t come around these parts or play around with CI as much anymore. Super-busy with the paying stuff.

It does seem to have it’s days where there are no discussions created or continued, but then other days many will be created or continued.

Perhaps it is the arguments from certain members that seem to happen every time someone discusses something interesting that is putting people off?

    Just a thought. I could be wrong….

Actually, I noticed this too. I have just been busy. You’ll find that just like any other jobs/careers/paths of life, their will be ups and downs with the traffic.

We are getting into fall. Once winter hits I bet everyone will be back at it.

I know even I havn’t been that active with the forum, and part of that is just because i’ve been busy with other things. And By busy, I mean I’ve been really lazy and havn’t even really been doing much web work lol.

As for the newbie questions, well, your just getting annoyed with them because your starting to become highly fluent and the same questions get really old after a while.

Also, school started again in a lot of countries, no doubt that has something to do with it too. I know it does for me.

I have a fall break in school next week 😊.

About the low activity on the forum, I don’t know why.
Surely someone must have something to say about automatic form generation and validation in the models? 😛
(about the fact that I haven’t got any comments on IgnitedRecord lately)

I’ve also been busy with school, but mainly a job I have, so my “commits per week” on IgnitedRecord has decreased somewhat.

I typically scan for new posts using Google Reader… however, a majority of them are the typical “Hi, learn me from master to enjoy Code Ignitor” or they are questions which deal with very simple low level logic that unfortunately I don’t have the patience for.  A large number of the new members post 1 question and never post again, so that sucks too…

I’m also with Colin on being busy with the paying stuff.  My wife is going to Italy early next year so I’ve been scrambling so I can afford to send her (and the trip is now paid for, so I’m totally relieved).

Other than that, I’ve got a couple of projects up my sleeve that I hope to bring to the table soon.  Whether or not anybody will be interested is another story…

Undoubtebly, I’ve been on another forum for ages too and this topic also crops up every now and again!

So! No worries xwero, things’ll sort themselves out!
