One of the things they’ve done so well is make themselves a hip / cool brand. It seems many big websites actually put the MT logo on their site as if it’s a Gucci or Armani label.

Do they provide priority service for these sites since they don’t seem to go down? It seems many regular users have all kinds of problems but this doesn’t appear to be the case with their high exposure clients.

I would think that they are probably on a dedicated virtual server in that case. Just look at the price difference and you can see where the difference in support would come from.

Oh,  Fo’ sho’!  DV costs $100 a bucks a month, but you can host your client’s sites on it and give them their on little CP and charge them whatever.  You’ll make the cash back.

No. I first tried a trial of their GS and did not like the way it was set up.

However, when I got my DV about a year ago (the lowest version), my sites have not gone down *ONCE*. I can honestly say that they know what the hell they’re doing and their support is nothing but helpful (you know, when you’ve got questions about server configs etc).

Just thought I’d chime in because I’ve not had a single problem with them ever. The only way I could imagine anyone having problems on a DV is if they (the user) messed up a server config… because MT gives you the option to change literally everything (it’s a virtual server, after all).

For those on a budget, I’ve had very good success with PairLite (a division of the popular Pair host service, and PairNIC).

PairLite is limited. $99 a year gets 50 gigs of monthly bandwidth, 5 MySQL DBs, up to 10 domain names, SSH access, and a few other goodies; easy email, elegant CP. I’ve never had a “budget” host with uptime this good.

Last time I checked, they were still only selling to the North American market. Which is ridiculous in todays web-centric economy, of course, and particularly so since their “full” accounts are available all around the world.
