    Hey!

I’m bored, and I want to create an application.

Doesn’t have to be a commercial thing, I just need a good idea!

    Any ideas?

Whatever happened to the blog system you and a few others were supposed to start up?

    Ah..

Well, we are working on that, but not using CI anymore, and I wanted a break - solid PHP coding is tiresome!

Hold on, if I remember rightly ‘bored’ is something that happens when your day has a greater number of waking hours than the sum of all your tasks right?

With dayjob & 2 kids I’m currently running at approximately 18 waking hours, and 22-26 hours worth of tasks to complete. That equates to -4 to -8 hours for me to be bored.

Try having a couple of kids, you’ll never be ‘bored’ again

“bored”?? What does that mean… Must be one of that weird Web 2.0 buzzwords…

Make an app that lets users choose a number from 1 - 10, then plot the results with a fancy bar graph. Shouldn’t take any longer than your attention span.

    Not really 😛 .

Colin’s idea sounded like fun though, so I couldn’t resist.

You should open source it so we can see how many different things we can add to it before becomes bloatware.

Then we can fork it and in angst form our own community around it.

Released under whatever license is compatible with the YUI one - MIT, BSD, take your pick.
Actually, forget that, just steal it!

All the code is in the html (view source) - first one to add 2MB of useful javascript[read:bloat] gets a cookie.

I’m sure we can fit a lisp interpreter somewhere in there.
