Thanks for the update, as some clients were already getting nervous about having their site built in a soon-to-be-outdated 1.6.4 (you know how clients can be) 😊

Another vote of thanks for the honesty.

I have 3 sites on the sidelines that I was waiting for 2.0 to arrive before starting. It seemed crazy to hack around the existing setup if the new one offered what I needed out of the box. Image handling / file upload and members are the 2 areas I hope get improved.

So at least I know not to wait any longer.

I’d like to chime in and say that I really dig Veerle’s updated theme. Colours are great, everything’s nice and clear - a great improvement imo.

Excellent… I can’t wait to rebuild all my extensions :D :jokes:

to say nothing of access to both CI and EE’s libraries.

    OpenID login capability?

Thanks for the communication, sadly it is taking longer, but gladly there will be a stable release.

Could it be EllisLabs is celebrating “Fight Procrastination Day”.

Really my reference on procrastinating was more for myself, EE 1.6 is more than capable, I’m sure the gang there is very hard at work on this.

Thanks for the updates, and not sacrificing any planned features.
Note to self: quit waiting for last day of summer it will come soon enough :(
One thing I would never procrastinate would be free beer & pizza though, wish I lived closer to west-MI

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how much can be done with a step by step find and replace, to say nothing of access to both CI and EE’s libraries.

Search and replace, as in code and or text, across more than one template?
    That would be a huge!

    Whew.

I’m so glad to hear this has been delayed.

Now I have more free time to troubleshoot problems with Vista and iPhone.

    Hiya,

I think Derek was possibly referring more to how easy it should be for developers to modify existing add-ons to work with the new version of ExpressionEngine.

I could be wrong on that but I think that’s what he meant, Derek?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

It’s not flame intended to veerle she delivers nice work but the new interface is to feminine for me .. keep it simple keep it clean as it is .. we don’t need more slow loading rounded corners and wordpress like obfuscation.

You will not have to modify your templates at all for them to keep working in 2.0.  This is something we were adamant about from the beginning.  Developers, on the other hand, will have to modify their add-ons to work with the new underlying architecture, and is where I mean the f/r would be able to do most of the grunt work.

I don’t personally find it feminine at all, but design sensibility is completely subjective.  I would like to point out though that the rounded corners are not using ridiculous markup and image slices, so shouldn’t affect your load and rendering times that much, unless you have a browser with a very slow javascript interpreter.  In any case, this wouldn’t be something that would be too difficult for one to change if they don’t like it.  Another benefit of 2.0’s MVC-based control panel.

We’re close, but as the saying goes, the devil is in the details, so we need to push the release into fall.

Actually, I think the saying has something to do with horseshoes and hand grenades. Heh!

When in the Fall? When’s Fall officially over? Which hemisphere? Which planet? And when’s 1.6.5 coming out?

Seriously, sorry to hear about the delay. I was enjoying the new era of transparency (until recently when people seemed to clam up).

Looking forward to seeing 2.0, but can honestly wait. Now maybe if I ever come up with something 1.6.4 can’t do….
