Agreed very nice color theme easy on the eyes.
Thanks for the update Rick!

It’s an indicator of your professionality, that you want to wait until the machine is _ready_ for shipping. i myself would rather wait until february next year just to be sure: this thing is working! instead of having it now with a lot of bugs.

Thanks for the update, Rick.
But even more than a brilliant looking backend graphics (I really like it), I hope, that EE 2.0 will have strongly improved support for third party WYSIWYG editors like TinyMCE, FCKEditor or XStandard. This would be a big step forward.

fail… but I do appreciate the honesty and it’s better to hear about a delay than to not hear anything for a long period of time…
thx

Am I the only one that had an orgasm seeing the screenshot?
As much as I like ExpressionEngine I don’t think that I would tell everyone that kind of thing even if it were true! 😉

I can’t believe the nerve of some people. Delaying the release so that everything works fine? Are you serious?
You make me sick; if companies like Microsoft don’t worry about such issues, what makes you think that Ellis Labs should as well?
Pfft.
😛

I’m pretty sure you are, yes.

Thanks for the openness. As frustrated as we may be, a better product is always appreciated.
We look forward to frequent updates and more behind the scenes as you get closer to launch.

I’d rather wait for a solid product than get it on time and buggy. Thanks for the update.

I have to reiterate everyone’s sentiments as well. Thank you for the update. I’ve been eagerly waiting for EE 2.0 ever since I first found out about its development. EE 1.x has so revolutionized the dynamics of my business that I have great hopes for the next evolution of this great product.
My one request would be to keep everyone in the loop.

Like everyone else, I also appreciate the candid update. But I still can’t help feel disappointed (though I wouldn’t want buggy software either). I *kind of* wish we hadn’t been told any sort of timeline in the first place. Kind of. I hope the additional info truly is regular and hope more so that the info updates kill the disappointment. 😊

Thanks for the news and update, Rick.
I have a feeling that when EE 2.0 does get released, the way we all make websites and communcate across the web is going to change forever. Big statement? Yes. But given the history of EllisLab and the quality of everything that comes from the EllisLab team, 3rd party devs, and the community, it would only be natural, as it has always has been.
Looking forward to the day…EE 2.0 day…

Good job on keeping everyone in the loop so far.
To be honest, as much as I’m looking forward to working with EE 2.0, the current version is working very well for our business and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
My one request is that you seed a copy to the more prolific developers here so they can at least get their add-ons ready (shouldn’t be difficult if the back-end is pretty much complete) and even start developing new stuff and have it ready around the time of the launch.
Personally, I’d like to know if there are any new tags or parameters to look forward to and if you have made any enhancements to relationships and the UI there.
Looking forward to new videos and screenshots!

It is beginning to look awful fallish outside. Are those brown leaves that I see? 😉
This is a win for all the procrastinators who don’t look forward to making such a big update to so many big client sites.
Personally, I don’t know what will be in the next version of EE and 1.6.x works fine for me so I’m not really on the edge of my seat. I run into very little that 1.6.x can’t do and even then I can extend it to cover deficiencies.

Hi Steve,
Yes, we are planning a developer preview that devs can apply for prior to the public release for exactly the reason you state. When its ready we’ll announce it on the EE Blog along with application info.
