    Hey Leslie,

Can you tell us (or just me) the number that did win? I’m keen to know if the number I voted for got through.

    so close 😊

I think it’s great that ellis and the sponsors even considered doing this let alone made it happen.

Congrats to the two winners!  I live just up the street from Holland in Grand Rapids so I might just have to head down and see everyone.

Please do Kevin - we’ll be having some after-hours get togethers and would love to see you and another local EE users there.  Drag AJP and Masuga long too…;)

ETA - I’ll post the schedule/location of those events on the train_ee twitter feed as they get settled.

This is training right? I don’t need no stinking training. Wait, that sounded pretty cocky…

AJ, your job is to buy all the beer. That’s what people who don’t need no stinking training do!

Iduno, driving 30 minutes to buy lots of beer might be expensive.

But just think of the joy you’ll feel giving back to the community.  (at 3 posts, am i part of the ‘community?’)

Thanks again for the opportunity EllisLabs! I’m really looking forward to being part of the training and seeing Holland.

I won’t post the entire essay that I wrote, but I’ll summarize:

I mentioned that I developed my first site with ExpressionEngine recently (http://www.nebulaawards.com) and it was a huge improvement over working with Wordpress - I was impressed with the level of control and flexibility of EE, but I knew that I had much more to learn.

I also said that in the end, meeting fellow webdesigners and creating friendships and partnerships will probably be more valuable than the EE training itself.

Nice site, Tony.  You sure don’t look like you need any training.  But you should have fun in the bar at least.

Depending on how many people are at the bar, Masuga Design may buy a round for everyone. Actually, probably more real to say if you’re at my table you might get a beer out of me, whoever ye be.

Exactly why I would want to go - but physically cannot make it. Enjoy the training.

Is Michigan near the Great Lakes?

Michigan is the “Great Lake State”—existing entirely of two penninsulas - here’s the Wikipedia Entry.

Michigan Trivia—the two peninsulas are connected by a bridge, therefore to anyone living in the Upper Peninsula (UP), anyone who lives in the Lower Peninsula (LP) is a “troll”...because they live under the bridge..😉

Holland is in the LP, and right on the shores of an inland lake that connects to Lake Michigan.  The Holland State Park is one of the nicest/busiest in the state and is about 6 miles from my house, and about 8 miles from where the training is being held in downtown Holland.

Weather permitting we’ll be doing a cookout on the beach one of the nights with some sand volleyball, etc.
