Long title isn’t it?  I’ve searched the forum and can’t find any discussion on this particular topic, and am not sure where to post this, so here goes.

In this forum at expression engine when I want to reply to a post I just get an entry form and can not view previous posts to the thread without having to hit the browser’s back button.  It leaves me kinda disoriented in my reply.

Is there something I have to set to get it to show me the previous thread posts while replying or is this a situation that requires a plugin/extension to achieve?

It’s very easy to miss because of the design, but there is a ‘button’ to toggle the last 10 posts.

    Thanks imparo.

It’s always nice to have pointed out just how dense I can be. :red:

I guess it’s not what I would call an intuitive format.  It looks more like informational than a clickable option and on my monitor it’s not in the browser viewable area until you go to hit either preview or submit.

I will have to file this information away for the future since I will eventually be buying the forum and doing a site which has visitors that are challenged by semantics of “new post” versus “new thread.”

Wow, I had no idea that was even there. That’s why I use the “Fast Reply” button. Very nice tip.

Same here, that irritated me as well. Thanks for pointing that out!

I usually solve this problem by simply opening a new tab in my browser (FF/IE7) containing the posts I want to respond to, while doing all the writing another tab.

Even though you can review the last ten posts in the same tab, as pointed out above, you still have to move up and down your window to read, which can get a bit distracting. With separate tabs you just do one click and you’re immediately there.

    Just a thought.  😊

Who needs clicking when you have Ctrl-Tab? 😛

Hoorah, I was annoyed with this too, didn’t see that ‘thread review’ button at all. Cheers.

Is there any technical reason the Post Reply form can’t be expanded within the page, like Fast Reply is, rather than living on a separate page? The nut of the problem really is that you’re taken away from the thread in the first place.

I have never spotted that either - so thanks! (Just tried it while writing this reply - great isn’t it!)

I feel better now knowing I’m not the only one that didn’t see it.
