Hi EE. You need functionality like this. (i.e. In-page editing, WYSIWYG, etc.) No more whining! It can be done! 😊

If this is even close to how it actually works my life just got easier.

    That’s all coming in EEV2.0 - that’s why its taking so long…
    (That is right isn’t it?)

The CMS I worked for (http://www.thelevel.com) has this capability. However it is most definitely not free, nor, in fact, inexpensive.

Kinda cool how the editor clicked up in a split screen when clicking the edit this link. If I’m not mistaken Dave Greiner is associated with CampaignMonitor.com, so I’m not sure the teaser video has anything to do with EE v.2 but hey the sky is the limit for sure. I just want better learning resources, I have to hunt and google to even figure out RSS basics, whining… lol.

Cool editing. Not sure I’d want to enable the rearranging of things for a client, can’t imagine the mess they could make 😊

For all interested, there’s a small company here in Switzerland that already does this. They have a CMS implemented in Smalltalk with wonderful functionality, and not expensive at all: http://www.cmsbox.com/

Quite a cool video. I remember that sort of functionality going back a couple of years now on another CMS, can’t for the life of me remember which one though as I have used so many over the years.

It’s great when it is for something that you have complete and utter control over and you could theoretically already do inline editing with AJAX on an ExpressionEngine site if you have the know how but moving things around on the page as far as I can see would be more geared towards ‘themed’ sites which use blocks. I don’t see how you could ever attach that to a site that you make in ExpressionEngine as they are all made in so many different ways.

Inline editing would be nice though although is probably very do-able nowadays if you code it into an existing site.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Slightly off-topic, but for an “inexpensive” CMS, this makes a pretty bad impression:

    Bad Gateway

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

Additionally, a 502 Bad Gateway error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The video is for MailBuild, Campaign Monitor’s AWESOME tool for reselling what’s essentially an easier-to-use CampaignMonitor (more WYSIWYG, less technical stuff for your client). Very cool if you haven’t checked it out: http://www.mailbuild.com
