Does anyone have experience with affiliate software? I’m currently looking at

Hi there,

I’d also love to know more about Affiliate software or practices.

We were going to start a project which would involve selling goods on our website for external partner organisations, but we’ve recently been told by our Lawyers and Accountants that it’ll be a headache so instead, we’re going to show the products on our website but refer visitors to the external partner organisations’ websites to purchase.

We want to use some sort of affiliate tracking (is that even the right phrase?) so that the links from our website would look like ‘partnerswebsite.com/?affiliate=myorganisation’

I’ve seen ExpressionEngine banners that seem to work just like this, so maybe EllisLab staff can tell us how they do this?  I’m really keen to hear about a recommended method as it’s not something I have any experience of.

...though of course, I want to track people who go to OTHER websites and buy products (or allow other website owners to track who has came from our website and bought products), so it’s not quite how EE are doing it (tracking referrers to their own website)...

I don’t have any experience with Post Affiliate Pro, but I have used the iDevAffiliate software and it’s rock solid, easy to use and the support was pretty good. It’s been I while back since I have used it, about a year and half I would say, so I can’t comment on their latest version though it looks similar to the version I have used.

I had it integrated into HSphere control panel and used it for affiliate’s for a small web hosting company. I had very fews issues and all were corrected with a few support emails.

Will the site have a shopping cart e-commerce setup, those would have affiliate tracking.
Not being familiar with the two you posted, but a store setup comes to mind and none in particular.

Hi Rooster there might be something here on the wikipedia page for affiliate marketing, it’s one of the more complete wiki pages I’ve seen, not exactly a chart to compare though.
