I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this type of question but it’s about the only place I’m allowed. My apologies otherwise.

Is anybody currently using Expression Engine on a HostGator hosted website? Does it run successfully? Are there any known compatibility issues?

We are currently looking at different companies to host our new website. The firm that has been contracted to design our site will be using Expression Engine for its content management system.

Thanks in advance for reply to my post.

Thanks for the quick reply. However none of the threads seemed to address whether anyone was using EE on HostGator directly. The thread you specifically mentioned quickly digressed into several different topics including adult content. Although one poster did mention that he used HG as a host, no specific mention of whether he was using EE. Am I to assume that because he is posting on an EE forum and mentioned that he used HG that the two are compatible?

I have a Hostgator reseller account and am very satisfied. I have the MSM installed no problem. Pretty straight up stuff, WHM, Control Panel, etc. A good host is like a good referee, they should be invisible. I have had no need to deal with their support other than the occasional non-urgent question.

Are you looking to resell, or just for one account? For just one account I say go with Engine Hosting, you have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting and about the peeps behind it.

Now with all that said, my server will probably blow up tonight.

I’ve been a HostGator customer for 4 years and have been very happy. I started on a shared server and now have a basic dedicated server. Downtime has been minimal: I’d say one two-hour period each year.  In each instance, my sites were back up within a couple hours after calling customer support.  I also found their Flash tutorials on WebHostManager helpful.  I was running multiple domains on my account in no time.
