    Hey Folks…

    5 pages already!

What a great way to start a day…;)

I just want to make sure your expectations are set around the book.  This is a self-published book - I didn’t write it then go find a publisher to work with.  In fact - in looking around at some other people’s experiences with that route I wonder if sites like Lulu.com (where the printed versions are being created) are pretty much killing the small-press market.

As Leslie said - the blog series that the book is based on is and will remain available on Boyink.com.

So what’s different about the book?

    - The content is aggregated into one document for ease of printing.

    - The sample site is assembled on its own (rather than as part of Boyink.com) which allowed me to organize the templates better.

    - The Weblog names are semantic and simpler.

    - Image paths are simpler

    - I’ve added a bunch of screen captures to make processes clearer.

    - EE variable names, EE tags, and HTML appear in more complete form.

    - The content has been revised and edited for clarity and accuracy (the blog posts could really be considered rough drafts in a formal writing process).  I’d estimate between my wife and I some 50-60 hours were spent in the editing process.

    - All templates used in the book are included as text files for ease of copying into EE (if you choose a printed book they will come on a CD).

    - Recipients of the book will get access to the new Train-ee forums for support around issues directly relating to the book contents.

Another thing to keep in mind with the print version since Lulu is a “print-on-demand” business there will be a lag time.  My copy took 12 days from order to delivery here in the states.

What I can do is shoot you the eBook to use while waiting for the printed version to arrive.

Again - thanks for all the great comments.  This has really been a fun project.

Again - thanks for all the great comments.  This has really been a fun project.

Well thank you really! A very generous offer to the EE community and I am sure that whoever gets a copy will be very grateful.
I for one am very grateful for all the hard work that you have put into these forums so that is a definite plus.

I wish you all the very best with your new train-ee site I’m sure you should do very well out of it.
Would have been nice though if you had got e-train instead as then you would still have the expression bit and the train would relate to the engine bit 😉

Okay I’m off to get some work done now as I will just start to ramble on other-wise!!

Again, well done on what looks to be a really great book. I wish you all the best with it.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Ooh, I’d love a printed copy of the book. Still finding my feet with EE, so that would be very useful.

    Cheers!

Man a printed copy would be great! I bet my office would hate it if I printed out all 167 pages on the color copier if i got the PDF version! Hmm might have to do that since my last day here is the 13th!

I’d love to get a printed copy to give one of my friends, since he’s considering setting up a site, and I’d much rather him go EE than Drupal. ;P

I just found EE like 3 days ago. I think it’s looks totally amazing. I’m trying to figure out everything I can do with it.

I would love a PDF copy.

Oh snap, I need all the help I can get. A printed copy would soon be well worn by my grubby hands.

Oh now this is a strange thing to even talk about…;)

Actually they’re all signed…at least with a graphic version at the end of the text.
The printed versions will ship straight from Lulu - so for a real signature it would double the shipping costs.
