Can anyone recommend a email marketing company that they have successfully integrated with EE?

I know how to integrate signup/unsubscribe forms into websites, which is not my problem.

My problem is I want my 20,000 members to have a great self-service member area within EE and I want them to be able to update their email address (duh) and have it update EE’s member database as well as make an API or other call to an email marketing company to update the email address in their database.

I’ve used iContact, Benchmark Email, and aWeber, but their integration options are limited or non-existent.

HELP! I know I am not alone in this endeavor.

P.S. the forum is great and I’ve learned a lot.  I really want to be a EE customer.

Hi, Seanrietze, welcome to the forums!

I haven’t personally used it, but I know solspace.com has an add-on that works with Constant Contact.  That may be an option for you to check out. =)

Others may have other recommendations as well. =)

Try aweber.com - they are used by a ton of bloggers.  Great product, inexpensive, strong autoresponder system.

    Thanks Sr,

Have you been able to get aweber to integrate well with EE?

    Cheers,

    Thomas

Perhaps you could check out Campaign Monitor, it seems to have a pretty good (albeit simple) API. MailChimp has one as well.

Any new recommendations on this front? I’ve explored so many options, I’m dizzy. Looked at Vertical Response, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, MailChimp. There are some offerings that each have, but no one is as complete as I’d like.

Interspire has an email product that can be hosted at the scale you mentioned.  Just be aware that their support is weak.

What features are you specifically looking for?

I’m now looking at a new EE site that needs a pretty custom integration within one of them to deal with sending out daily newsletters to only specific people based upon the entries they have chosen as favourites.

    I’m looking for these basics:

—optin at point of EE registration, with ability to pass custom field data
—optin/optout at any point after registration, much like the standard subscriber profile/prefs update
—email addresses change and it would be important to keep these in sync between EE member and MailChimp accounts.

    Hi drpudding,

optin at point of EE registration, with ability to pass custom field data

That’s doable using a custom extension, and the next version of SL Freshview Subscribe (coming soon, honestly) will support custom fields.

—optin/optout at any point after registration, much like the standard subscriber profile/prefs update
—email addresses change and it would be important to keep these in sync between EE member and MailChimp accounts.

This is where you run into problems. The required extension hook doesn’t exist (I’ve made a feature request here, so feel free to add your voice to that), so they simply can’t be done.

    Hope that clarifies the situation…

    Cheers,
    Stephen

Any ideas if 2.0 will allow this? i.e. Trigger an update to a CM record based on an updated member record in EE

I’ve got sl freshview working nicely on a site with new registrations being added fine, but keeping everything up to date in the long term is going to be fun!

Our option at the moment is to keep running manual imports as the client won’t be mailing that often. Some sort of template running a cron job through the API would work, but it’s a bit messy to maintain.

Trying everything I can to avoid the client wanting to send emails off my server!

This would need to be a custom add-on.

    Hello all,

    @shinemktg

Any ideas if 2.0 will allow this? i.e. Trigger an update to a CM record based on an updated member record in EE

I had a look during the beta, and the long-requested extension hook had not been implemented, so my understanding is that no, EE 2.0 as it stands will not allow this.

    @Lisa

This would need to be a custom add-on.

I think the question was more about whether the feature can be implemented in EE 2.0 (i.e. whether the required extension hook exists), as opposed to whether EE 2.0 includes this functionality as standard.

    Cheers,
    Stephen
