The amazing team behind ExpressionEngine fan site Jambor-EE.com are back bringing holiday cheer for everyone. They are doing a 24-day tutorial in which they are building a complete site in EE, showing you every step in the process. They are not building a simple site either. These ambitious folks are going all out; “we’re going to build a Social Recipe site called We Love Food (http://www.welovefood.com) packed with all that Web 2.0 goodness you either love or hate.” This is going to show you how EE can be used out of the box and then extended with 3rd party add-ons, like those from the well known EE add-on developer Solspace. Like I said, ambitious.

This will be fun to follow. Have a local dev environment (under MAMP) all set and ready 😊

Awesome there were only two official “issues” before, this will be like 24-issues in one swEEp, or just one big Christmas present 😊

I wonder what’s going on over there? It seems to be down a very long time, especially for a company site! And it’s strange that have said nothing more about it.

To my knowledge Jambor-ee isn’t a “company” site. Its a fan-run site. But yeah, I wonder what they’re up to?

My guess is that real life work has got in the way and rather than have a quarter of the planned month of site building, a decision would have been made to remove it. I am surprised that the site shut screen wasn’t more customised - it’s something I always change. - but I just answered myself - they only had time to write “Back soon Thanks for your patience”. Busy chaps!

    What a disappointment!
They shouldn’t have started the series in the first place if they weren’t sure that they can finish it. They (Erskine Design) might be great agency but for me they are just inconsistent. I find very rude the way the chose to kill the project, giving absolutely no explanation to the community.

Rude? Something offered for free? While I too was looking forward to the tutorial, I certainly wasn’t dependent on it in any way nor did I expect it to be finished in any particular timeframe. After all, it was offered for free from an agency that has work to do. I am sure they had the best of intentions when they start and something came up that moved it off the front burner.

I do hope everything is OK with them.

Well I wouldn’t bother finishing it if some people were going to be rude about my efforts to give something back to the community for free. It’s not our god given right to have Jambor-ee available to us so please be at least a little grateful that they, and others such as Mr Boyink for his great building series and all the helpful posters here, are willing to share their experiences with us.

And if nobody started anything unless they were sure they could finish where would the human race be right now…

I will definitely buy the book when it comes! I miss the december-series but also I miss the former jambor-ee site. Their articles made things transparent to me that until then seemed mysterious. I do wish for the day when Jambor-ee is back, live and kicking!

I can understand if they’ve taken it offline to reappraise and re-theme. But it would be nice to have it back simply to reference some of those excellent articles.
