I’m not sure if you would really be putting your business in jeopardy. Google does the exact same thing billions of times a day and rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars - all based on screen-scraping your content.

Great point walesmd. I suppose if it is out there for public consumption, then it is hard to blame someone for consuming.

Yes and no. I guess if you attribute the source you would be OK. As long as you are not claiming the data as your own. Of course this is still a fine line.

Google would reply that they are not profiting off of the content, but they are profiting off of the indexing of content, and providing a service by driving traffic to the sites.

I think this conversation just goes to show that noone really knows. It’s still a grey line between what is available for public consumption and what is not.
A lot of people have tried to sue Google over the fact that they are profiting off of other’s content and the courts have consistently sided with Google (if you don’t want people to reprint your content, protect it).
I think with a bit of attribution - you would have a strong defense against any incoming lawsuits.
