I have been on a real Beatles kick lately. I seem to listen to more of their later stuff when I am coding lately.

After years of abstinence I’ve been listening a lot to (anything from) Iron Maiden (with Bruce Dickinson as vocalist) lately. And since I found I really enjoy it again I also unearthed my Blind Guardian albums…

I have tons of music in my iTunes but these are the ones currently on my mind 😊

Guitar heros include the Indigenous’ Mato Nanji of the Sioux nation.
Anytime Double Trouble get’s together and does anything.
Regional music in the USA, Southern Rock, Mississippi Delta Blues, Cajun rock-blues… you name it anything with some local flavor.

I can’t get enough DJ Tiesto.  While my favorite is ‘In Search of Sunrise’ (the first one), I listen to everything on “shuffle”.  I can’t listen to music with a ton of lyrics or I find myself picking some very odd variable names:

The steady rhythms of trance are perfect to lull my brain’s “paying attention to everything else” section into a state of audio bliss while the “I hate the necessary evil of recursion” section can get the job done.

I’m the odd goth out around here. ;P

Lately though, I’ve been listening to a lot of Blaqk Audio (the synthpop side-project of Davey and Jade from AFI), with the occasional David Bowie, Brian Eno or Concrete Blonde days thrown in for good measure.

My current playlist includes: Snow Patrol, Citizen Cope, The Cinematics, Brandie Carlie, Joan Osbourne, The Submarines, Junior Boys, Uh Huh Her, the Rakes, Garbage, Roisin Murphy, Bill Withers, Simple Minds, The Cliks, One Republic, Elisa, Amy Winehouse, Rhianna, Burn Season, and She Wants Revenge.

It mixes mental sing-along ability, an upbeat edge, with some heavy guitars. I also like mixes some old, some new, and some standbys together. I tend to switch primary playlists about once a month, sometimes a bit longer. This one I’ve had for over 2.5 months, and I’m still loving it.

My cousin went to prom with Rhianna for an MTV reality show. I can’t help but giggle when I hear Umbrella.

Evil Spy- not too odd, I like Bowie, AFI, and love, love love Concrete Blonde—ahh youth’s formative years. Though I admit, they’ve been getting little love from my iPod of late—except AFI’s Prelude 12/21

Brian Eno-type ambient stuff. 
Pandora.com was a necessity for me until they were prevented from broadcasting to Canada.  :(
