    I’ve seen some issues with 2.0.0.4 - but if you go to the backend and check login automatically, that might help. Assuming you have set up both domains to cookies only.

    Once you’ve logged in the second domain and checked login automatically, the first domain should let you in.

    Well… it helps. Additionally I just updated EE to build #20070724. Now I can login (so far), but I just discover one not very funny situation. Installation of Multiple Site Manager was completely destroyed my weblogs (thanks God it was only one!) and all weblog entries. Now I’ve got empty database. It’s not tragic, because site is still under construction, but… Oh, well… Thank for the help, Sue, gotto go to start again from the very beginning.

    I’m sorry you’re going to need to start over. I hate when that happens.

    Just make sure to backup your database before you attempt this again. Unless you’re going to start working with multiple sites from the beginning.

    Actually I’m a bit concerned about this.  Installing the MSM should never effect current data - can you take us through the exact steps that you went through to install it?  And what did you mean by “Destroyed data”? Are you sure you had the old Site with the data chosen in the CP?

    Nothing special, I just carefully followed the installation instructions. After I enabled the MSM, I made two more sites using option copying templates, weblogs and content. After that I made two subdomanes and copied to there two necessary files to activate them. I tried to access new created sites and everything looks OK, except missing data. All I could see was an interface and that it. So, during installation of additional subdomanes,  the system copied only templates but not weblog and content. More than that, weblog and content was vanished from my main site as well. I don’t know why. Maybe because my only weblog there had the same short name as a new created main site – “default_site ”. So, here we go again – ground zero.

    If you don’t mind poking a bit more to try to find out what happened- if you go to ‘Admin- Utilities- SQL Manager- Manage DB Tables’ and skim down to the exp_weblog_titles table- are your entry titles still in there or are they completely gone?

    Also, when you did create your new sites, did you “duplicate” or “import” your old site’s content? If so, which one?

    Well,  let me see… in the exp_weblog_titles all titles still remain, but no entries at all. I made a new weblog and posted one new entry that was appeared under id #7, six previously posting entries (before install MSM) now are completely gone.

    More interesting situation. Now I’ve got sites, say – 1,2,3. Number 1 is a main site, two additional are located on subdomains. ‘Cause all my weblogs and entries are completely gone, I made a new weblog on site #1 (main site) and posted one entry there. Surpriselly, that entry immediately appeared on every my sites (##2 &3;) as well.

    I selected “duplicate” everything.

    I though using MSM give me ability to get three different sites working on a single installation of EE, but in realty I’ve got now one main site and two additional mirrors of it.

    I’m running both live and test MSM sites and not running into the same issues- so I think something must be off somewhere.  Any chance you want to pm me superadmin access level so I can go in and take a look?  And if that’s doable- ok if I create a test entry or two in order to see what it’s doing?

    Yes, sure. Everything will be OK for me, thank you. I’ll pm you all information now. Please do whatever you find reasonable to investigate this problem.

    OK- at this point I’m ignoring the Safari issues- just focusing on the MSM being up and displaying properly.  I THINK everything looks fine in the backend.  I can flip between the 3 sites and if I add an entry to one site, it is not added to the other sites.  You can spot those entries by going to ‘edit’- there’s a different ‘rob1 entry’ in two of the sites.  So no unexpected duplication there.

    It sort of takes one install to really get the hang of the MSM.  When you first create your new sites, you’ll likely duplicate a lot of things- including entries- from an existing site.  Or- move them over entirely.  So they can look pretty much like mirrors.  But once you start editing the sites, you’ll see they operate pretty much independently.  If you create an entry in one site, it won’t show up on the edit page of the other sites.  It’s unique to the site you created it on.  Ditto weblogs, categories, etc.  So once you start editing away on one of the new sites, you’ll start to see they are (mostly) independent.

    Except- right now, your subdomains are all showing the same stuff on the frontend.  I suspect it may just be a matter of needing to edit the path.php files in the subsites- see the docs on setting it up.  I’m thinking maybe you don’t have the site shortname in there:

    $site_name = 'Site_Short_Name';

    That needs to be there and specify the short name of the site that the folder is displaying.  Hopefully that’s the reason the frontends all look identical.  If you duplicated most of the info, most of it will look the same for now- but they should be showing different entries on that main page, because the different sites now have different entries added to them.

    That all make sense?

    Well… I found two missing entries, that located now in ‘edit’ section of two subdomane sites, but they were removed from main site. Also I added to path.php files (three of them)

    $site_name = 'Site_Short_Name';

    (Changed ‘Site_Short_Name’ for the real short name.) But now I can’t see any sites at all. Al I’ve got is a browser error message: “Disallowed file extension”. Any idea what is it?

    Wonder if your htaccess is having some effect?  In general, it doesn’t make much sense.  OK- the path.php file in era?  I’d remove the site name.  See if that helps there.  In the other folders, I’d remove your htaccess file for the moment- see if it helps.  That error only shows when you’ve got a file extension other than php or php4- not really seeing how that happened.
