I am on the latest build of EE. Watermarking has always worked, no changes were made to the watermark file or location.

I am going through a batch of photos, Watermark box is checked, but no watermark is appearing. I confirmed all settings, and there is no reason that the watermark SHOULDN’T be appearing.

    Very time sensitive.

Can you let us know all of the watermark settings? Image, text, etc? That way I can try to replicate this on my installation.

Also, were any changes made on your host? If it suddenly stopped working then it may be indicative of a change there.

Certainly, here is what I am using, prefaced with no changes on our server other than updating EE builds:

    Graphic
    Bottom-Left
    0 padding
    Horizontal Offset 5
    Vertical Offset 10
    Watermarks to Thumbnails - No
    Watermarks to Medium - Yes
    Opacity - 16
    Transparency X Coordinate - 5
    Transparency Y Coordinate - 5

The two server path settings are correct as well.

Can you run a quick test with a text watermark to see if that works? Also, could you PM the watermark image so I can test?

Tested a text watermark, with TrueType on (don’t know if that matters), and it didn’t work.

    Sending image to you.

No error at all. I just end up with a processed image with no watermark 😛

Could you go into the gallery preferences and use the “Test Watermark” feature and let me know what happens?

Same results for both image and text watermark. It displays the image in a new window, but no watermark.

I do this everytime I am about to go through batch processing to determine watermark placement, and it has always displayed the watermark in the past.

Do you have error reporting turned on by any chance? I want to make sure it’s not suppressing an error.  Also, what version and build of EE are you on? I know you said the latest but I have to confirm. =)  Also has this worked before *on this build*?

I have PHP/SQL errors set to display to Super Admins if that’s what you mean?

    I am on build 20070708, EE 1.6.

This is the first time I am doing batch processing from this build.

Can you do something for me?  Create a page called test_error.php and try to run this code

    <?php
    echo ('testing an error
    ?>

What I’m trying to do is make sure that the server is not suppressing errors, by outputing a file with bad code.  This should just be FTP’d up to your server.

I have just tested this on my localhost installation with your image, and fully new files, and it watermarked perfectly using the “Test Watermark” function.  That particular feature isn’t working for you, correct?  What image library do you use?

I uploaded a file called test_error.php to the server, with the contents that you mentioned, but I just get a blank page. It’s at http://www.gearlive.com/test_error.php

As for as image library, I believe it’s called GD2, is that right? I know I have that installed, just don’t know if the terminology for it would be my image library 😉

And yes, the Test Watermark isn’t working, although it has always worked in the past.

Ok, I’m actually off for the weekend, but that lack of an error means that your server is suppressing PHP errors. You need to get that turned on.  See the note in this kb entry.

I’ve asked the team to have a look at this as well, as I’m honestly not sure why it wouldn’t work. But if you can get those PHP errors on, I strongly suspect that it’ll supply some more information.
