Something must be going on with their site… we keep getting 404’s too. Anyway, I was able to register at their forums and it’s definitely EE running their boards.

It’s online!! The site is made with EE 😉 How cute :p But a download of 58mb… pfffff, what a big program!

Well, I unzipped it and they left all the .svn directories in there, which probably isn’t good for download size. There are also quite a few sample images in the download.

Downloaded earlier on today and tried to install it. It looks for an ‘install’ directory which was not in the download zip. I think they must have had some problems with the release or something as all the download pages have now disappeared!!
Let’s hope they get it all fixed soon so that we can all try it out.

Victor,
Is the template system based on Smarty Templates or a unique to Magento approach?

Wow. I’m pretty disappointed. It doesn’t seem like it’s that much different than something like CubeCart with dozens of files mixing php & html. It seems like just changing the css might not be that bad, but if you want to edit the html… good luck. I think I’ll wait for EE’s ecommerce module.

With the new appointments I am hoping that EllisLab have the resources to start ramping up development of 2.0 and the e-Commerce module 😊

Hi folks!
I’m developing my first EE website, it’s for a big football soccer club in Mexico.
After 4 months of development, the club committee decided that the e-commerce system should be the first priority and they are focusing their attention on this, what a twist for the original “news and media gallery” idea…
This is just my background to explain that I NEED (badly) some information about the “full” e-commerce module of EE 2.0.
I’m at the edge of deciding to install Magento at a site subfolder to handle e-commerce, but this implicates that the users would have to register there, EE will no longer handle the whole website, ... ... ... ...
So this raises a lot of issues, I have also read that Magento would integrate with EE in some way, but I guess this is not up to EE team.
EE 2.0 is supposed to go out this month, but my decision has to be made in the next few days.
Thank you for your time.

The e-Commerce module will not be launching with EE 2.0 so with EE 2.0 not out yet, I would be looking elsewhere for full e-commerce capabilities.

I assume you are not referring to “Simple Commerce Module” but another module - “full e-commerce” or similar?
Or are you saying that the simple commerce module will not work on EE2.0 launch? If this is the case how many other modules will be like this? Forums, etc?

Don’t get too far ahead of yourself!
I am talking about the much talked about FULL e-commerce module. It was hoped to be launched with EE 2.0 (never confirmed by EllisLab) but has since been confirmed that it won’t.
Forums and simple commerce probably won’t change (in terms of support) in EE 2.0.
