I thought these Pownce invites would be going quick… Still have 5 invites for the taking.  Fair warning, though… the friend requests are as spammy as MySpace.

Edit Update: 1 Invite left, and thanks for the Skitch invite, Shawny!

John, no way. I was just lucky enough to have Messina give me an invite a while back and wanted to spread the love. Anyways, I needed some leverage in making new friends.

I now have 4 Pownces and 1 Skitchy left.

I would love a Skitchy invite if you have one left.  Email is on the way.

http://pownce.com/chrispiciullo/ <—feel free to add me, John.  I’m not as cute as melissah, but I won’t snub you…  😉

Sorry… couldn’t resist.  The offer stands for any other EE users.  You’re all welcome to add me.

Edit Update: 1 invite for Pownce left.  Get it while it is still hot!

Melissah was easy to track down but warning, she will snub you.  😉

I refuse to participate in the world-wide techgeek circle jerk-slash-popularity contest that Pownce seems to have become. I refuse to add complete strangers to my friends list because they have seen fit to friend me without even bothering to actually befriend me. Anyway, I rather thought that my note was courteous, not snubbish.

But srsly mang, I gotta go. Your mum is complaining that my side of the bed is cold. O BURN!!!!!!!!!!!11eleven111

PS, that note was public, foo. Everyone who stumbles across my page will read it.

Pownce seems is like a stylish, exclusive club in a beautiful new building that doesn’t have many people in it.

Twitter is that hole in the wall bar that EVERYONE goes to.

What they both really lack is an actual community. They’d both benefit greatly by allowing users to tag themselves, say I could put “funny, smart, handsome” for myself. Then other users could search for new friends based on said tags. Pownce and Twitter are both great if you already have friends, but they suck if you’re wanting to make new ones.

I love “your momma” jokes even though they actually have not been considered burns for quite some time here in the United States.  Unfortunately I think they died with Rodney Dangerfield (a GREAT comedian by the way.)  Maybe we can revive the tradition though because “your momma” jokes are still fun.

    Some of my favorites:

(note: Not aimed at anyones mother and I don’t want to turn this into a “your momma” thread.  Start a new one for that!)

Your Mom is so ugly, she walked into Taco Bell and everyone headed for the border.

Your Mom is so stupid she waited at a stop sign until it said go.

Your Mom is so fat if you told her to haul *** (rhymes with pass) it would take her a few trips.

Anyways, I was not trying to offend.  I meant my comment as a playful jab.  I deleted the contents.  I really don’t want this thread to get closed so play nice everyone.

This thread is all about inviting total strangers to Pownce so why not add them to the buddy list as well?  The grouping feature allows us to create an ExpressionEngine group which could be very useful.  There are many people whom I would love to get to know better from here and Pownce is another way to do so.  I have already had some great conversations with people I have never known before.

I thought I would be using this application for a couple days and then forget about it.  Some great usefulness has emerged though.  Pownce is definitely not just another Twitter.  I could see how this app could be used as a production tool that can fill in that area between email and instant messages.

I think now we need to create an ExpressionEngine group in Facebook.
