What’s the point of escalating this whole thing? You’re not going to change EllisLab’s mind, so you’re just ranting to a wall.

PayPal offers a debit card that’s tied to your account, that you can use for purchases where credit cards are accepted.

Yeah, and that debit card is only available for US PayPal accounts.

My point is that I will never give Ellis Lab my credit card and accepting one single option of payment in today’s globalized world is just plain dumb.

They are acting like if they are a small town company with all this new restrictions. Because that is what they are, restrictions. If that is where they want to go, then they should not even have an online store either, and just do in person sales.

It’s not dumb if your business has the potential to lose money, or the service makes receiving money more difficult. The complaints about PayPal’s fees, policies, and random instances of locking funds and creating messes for sellers are numerous and documented throughout the web. The trade off of losing some business vs. having zero issues and providing a better user experience for those other customers is worth it to some people. Maybe not you, but you have to acknowledge that this isn’t your business. You completely have the right to no longer purchase EllisLab products if you don’t want to. Complaining about it won’t change anything.

I was not complaining, it was my opinion as last time I checked this is a forum, but I guess you are right. Im just losing my time and I will better spend my time in more productive things. All other users seem to already have done the same as there is almost none activity anymore in the community in particular when you are talking to a wall, so I guess Ellis Lab does not need users feedback or bug reporting, or anything at all from users anymore. I guess they know what is best for everyone.

When did customer’s input stop mattering? Here’s the thing - they’ve taken away the customer’s choice to use PayPal as a payment option. I’ve never had a single problem with PayPal and I’ve used it often, but I understand that other people have had problems, just as others have had issues with credit card companies. Given the number of transactions that take place, it’s inevitable. Yes, there’s a small degree of risk attached to any online transaction.

It was always the customer’s choice to pay via credit card or PayPal. It wasn’t one or the other. Anyone who was apprehensive about PayPal could avoid it and use a credit card. Customer’s choice. That choice is now gone. I’m sure this simplifies things for EllisLab and of course they’re completely entitled to do as they please, but I can say personally this was very, very nearly a deal breaker for me. In the end, I opted to get a pre-paid credit card, but I’m very disappointed that I no longer have PayPal as an option. If EllisLab doesn’t care that I’m not happy, they should, given the multitude of CMS options that exist - most notably, the ones that cost $0.00.
