I’ve tried making a local copy of the website and disabling/removing all third party add-ons and it’s still not working. I need to get this fixed for a client asap so I’m going to make a new install of the previous version (2.1.5 I think) and then try upgrading to the latest version and see if I can reproduce the bug.

However I don’t have a fresh copy of EE 2.1.5, the downloads page only gives me the latest version of EE. Where can I get EE 2.1.5 from?

Woo! It’s fixed. The problem was when upgrading EE leaves some files in the themes folder which the latest version still refers to! So to fix the problem just delete/rename this file: /themes/javascript/compressed/cp/global.js

Also I’ve noticed that in the images folder previous versions of EE keep thumbnails in /_thumb whereas 2.4 keeps it in /_thumbs so you will have to copy the thumbnails over or they appear as broken images in the CP.

Glad to see you were both able to get this up and running! Are there any issues remaining here or is everyone all set?

    I don’t have that file, I have

    global_end.js
    global_start.js

glad you have fixed it, I am not lucky, every time I update EE something goes wrong.

I suspect could be a plug-in but don’t have time to check and I’ve experienced duplicate fields when activating/deactivating modules.

    Hi Daniele,

If you are missing the files mentioned earlier, I’d like you to download a fresh copy of ExpressionEngine and then upload the themes folder to your current site. If you are missing files then then this should fix the issue.

    Hello daniele,

Which file do you not have?

    Is it “/themes/javascript/compressed/cp/global.js”?

That’s a good thing, because they are not in 2.4.

Are you using an Add-on themes daniele?

This thread has grown and there are several people involved, but I do not believe that we have much information for you. Was this a clean install or an update and was the update successful the first time?

Have you double checked your plugins to make sure they are all up to date?

Have you checked your file permissions? Upload directories should be 777 and files should be 666.

Let me know what you find and we will get this working for you.

Sometimes, just to avoid getting lost in the shuffle, it’s better to start your own thread.

    Cheers,

    You are right Shane,

finally I had time to check all my plugins, and the culprit was Template Variables 1.1.

I hope this will help someone in the future. Thanks everybody, this forum and his members are a goldmine.
