We have an EE install on 2.1.3 that’s been online and running for several months now. Suddenly, today, we cannot login to the CP. All attempts boot us back to the login page.

As well, when logging in as a member in the site’s front end, it is no longer possible to change your password. We get an error of ‘you are not authorized to perform this action’.

We are stumped as to what could causing this. Any ideas anyone?!

    Thanks,
    Mike

I’m actually having this issue as well. Multiple sites running EE 2.1.3 on MediaTemple GS hosting. Site front-end works just fine. Consistently redirected to the login page while entering correct login details.

I have this same exact issue and I’m seeing a huge amount of threads about this. To all MT (gs) customers.. I can say that I saw MT upgraded to PHP 5.2.17.. is that the issue Ellislab? I managed to login by adding some code to the config file.. but now I can’t save anything inside the CP. Every update/save buttons takes me back to the homepage.

I’m guessing this is on only certain clusters as we’ve seen it on some GS sites but not others.

Would love to hear something further on this from EE support as soon as they know more.

Also getting this issue on a MediaTemple gs site.  Control Panel is inaccessible.  Their dv servers don’t seem to have the problem.

Mark’s config changes ( http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/199265/#933969 ) fixed it for us on MediaTemple’s GridService.

    @all,

We are seeing this issue on servers that have been updated to PHP 5.2.17 and the Devs have been alerted to the problem. I’ll add this thread to the hopper. If everyone that is affected could verify their PHP version and post it back here, that would be most helpful. I’m sorry this is suddenly become an issue, and we’ll get it sorted out as soon as possible.

    Cheers,

    @all,

Is everyone being affected on MediaTemple? They have asked that any EE users experiencing this as a result of their update to 5.2.17.

    Cheers,

Yes, I can confirm that is the version we’re now running (5.2.17).

Note: Mark’s thread referred to above works for us also. However, a MT support ticket indicates that GS users can force using the previous PHP version by adding the following to your .htaccess file:

    Action php-2-14 /gs-bin/php-5.2.14-2
    AddHandler php-2-14 .php

We have not tried or tested this yet.

    Dan -

One other note from our perspective. For us, this issue is affecting 1 MSM install (EE 2.1.3) but not 2 other non-MSM installs (EE 2.1.1 and EE 2.2.2) and not one other MSM install (EE 2.2.1).

I just noticed a site I’m running on EE2.2.2 and I’m glad to see I’m not alone with this issue. The site is hosted on MediaTemple GS and I just checked to confirm that this grid is running PHP 5.2.17.

    Hi stubear,

Just wanted to see if the config changes helped you out at all?

Is everyone else here sorted now?

    Thanks,

    Mark

It does not work. I get an error that says:

The requested URL /gs-bin/php-5.2.14-2/xxxx.php was not found on this server.

*note: I’ve removed the .php file name as it referenced my masked admin page. It is not really xxxx.php

    Hi stubear,

I’m sorry I’m not quite following what you did here.

Did you try out the config changes as described in this post here or something else?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Stubear… I think Mark is referring to the config fix from his other thread. It looks like you might be trying the htaccess fix (which we still have not tried at this point).

    Cheers,
    Mike
