I use aptana studio 3.  cant compain so far, though there are some things I’d like to improve, like multiple file uploads, for e.g.  Aptana currently does it one by one and if you are uploading 2 files at the same time, it’ll upload neither.

I still use it though, it suits my needs

I second PHPDesigner, You can also include codeigniter system libraries and its php helper auto understands all codeigniter methods!

I am a big fan of the Geany editor. It’s small, lightweight, fast, and works with many languages and multiple platforms!! Even notepad++ is really cool but there is something in it that prevents me from using it unlike, Hence I use Geany editor!!

I like phped from nusphere. I find that being able to halt execution to inspect variables and then step forward is pretty much essential. I use notepad++ when I just have to make quick edits to code that isn’t going to be an ongoing project. Does anyone out there use Notepad++, Sublime, or Textmate as a debugger like you can with Netbeans, Aptana, Eclipse, and PhpEd? I don’t think you can, but I’ve never tried.

I also recommend Geany. It works under Linux and Windows. It is lightweight and fast. It can search some text recursively which is unbelievably convenient. It can clone the selected lines of code by hitting CTRL+D. And much more nice things 😊

Also, Kyle Farris created a nice file adding CodeIgniter autocompletion in Geany: http://blog.zyrax.net/archives/304

Just copy the file “codeigniter.php.tags” in /home/username/.config/geany/tags on Linux/Unix/OSX, or in %appdata%/geany/tags on Windows. Restart Geany and enjoy 😊
