When in Membership Preferences General Configuration, open any concertina.

Now change to another site using the dropdown at top left - a number of strange things can happen depending on how often you repeat the change concertina/change site cycle

    - You can end up with two concertinas open
    - You can end up with all concertinas closed, but a selected one (black) unresponsive until you open another concertina

    Build:  20110510
    MAMP 1.9.6.1
    PHP 5.3.5 and/or 5.2.17

I saw this in 2.4 beta also and MAMP 1.9.4

HOWEVER, if you use the dropdown at top right to switch sites, the conscertinas behave correctly.

QUESTION - why have two dropdowns for selecting sites on the same page?

Before I report a bug, can anyone replicate?

    Hi JohnD,

I’ve tried to replicate using the latest beta with MSM, but I’m unable to. Which browsers are you using? Since the accordion effect in the Member Preferences General Configuration screen are accomplished with JavaScript, it may be that the problem only presents itself in certain browsers.

I’m also a bit confused: what are you two drop-downs you’re referring to for selecting MSM “sites”?

    Hi JohnD,

There may be javascript conflicts between some js I am using in a module I have under development and native EE js. Thanks for trying to replicate. I will check further

I’m also a bit confused: what are you two drop-downs you’re referring to for selecting MSM “sites”?

When you are in the Member Preferences General Configuration screen, there is a dropdown just below the “WARNING:  Be EXTREMELY careful ...” message.

Then there is the dropdown at the extreme top right hand side of the CP window, where you can change sites. I understand that these have different purposes according to the existing EE design, but I find it confusing. It seems to me that being able to change the member group settings for different sites without also actually changing sites, defeats the purpose of keeping the different sites’ settings semantically separate from each other. With this setup you can end up looking at MSM Site A from an overall CP Window perspective while editing Member Group Privileges for MSM Site B - confusing and error-prone I think?.

    Hi John,

Let us know what you find. As far as the second dropdown goes, it’s there as a convenience but I agree in some cases it can be confusing. Thanks for the feedback.

This problem only shows up under Safari 5.05 on my particular dev setup. Safari is due for another update soon, so will wait and see if my peculiar dev setup plays a role or not.

Firefox and other browsers work OK

Suggest you close this thread as resolved.

    Thanks for trying to replicate.
