    What about the 1.x version?

We’ll be releasing an unsupported version for 1.x that does much of the same, but goes by a different name on Devot-ee.

    Grand!

For awhile I was wondering about this. Around the same time when Ellislab was inquiring about what the EE SAEF needs I purchased SafeCracker. It really didn’t make sense to have an amazing addon conquer the existing EE SAEF and reinvent the wheel by rewriting a new one to compete with a 3rd party.

Say, when will we see Matrix, Playa, and Wygwam baked in for free? 😊

Is there a plan on EllisLab’s part to continue to make small, but excellent, purchases like this one?

As we continue to add to ExpressionEngine, there may be times when we’ll analyze bringing in third-party add-ons vs coding our own solution.  It is something that we will consider, but has to be done on a case by case basis.

That doesn’t seem like the most concrete answer; but we do not have specific plans right now.  We’re still breathing a sigh of relief at getting SafeCracker out to the community. =)

Totally understandable! Take the weekend off, have a few Pixel and Tonics to relax…cough cough…and we will see you on Monday 😉

Would love to see the ReCaptcha plugin working with this! Only reason I can’t use it now is the EE Captcha is kinda lame 😊, have to stick with my hacked freeform for now.

And just in time for something I am working on.

Thanks to the Safecracker team and Ellislabs, a welcome first sign you are listening to your users.

Forecast turnover has slowed down a bit though, especially as this item has not required any dev…

Any practical uses for SafeCracker? I rarely have websites in which there are users submitting content. Any other purposes?

If you want to create a form which allows a client to input data but don’t want them to have access to the control panel or you’d like to keep things on the front end for them to edit items more easily.

There are loads of other uses too but that’s one off the top of my head.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

You can have guest submit data securely… to a weblog. No login or hacks required.

We use it a lot for web application development. Things like contact us forms, contest entries, registrations, job applications, classified ads, advertising submissions, time tracking, are all a natural fit with SafeCracker.

    So.. practical uses? Yes. Galore.
