Hello, I’ve been having problems with three of my EE2 sites (hosted with same company). I can’t log into any of them. Or if I’m able to I get error messages. Here is one of the error messages when I try to log in. It all started about 2-3 days ago.

“The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.”

I think my hosting company updated something on the server that caused a conflict with EE, but they say they haven’t. I ran the ee wizard again and everything came back yes. I’ve included three screen shots of the various screens I’ll get. If I do get the control panel to show, the drop down menus don’t work. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi design826,

Are you able to gain access to the server logs for the times that these errors are generated? These kinds of errors are generally caused by a server misconfiguration and not related to EE and it’s certainly odd that they just started occurring. Have you got an .htaccess file active for these sites?

    Cheers

    Greg

Hi Greg, The activity log says connection “Operation could not be completed. Connection reset by peer.” As far as the raw logs go I have access them, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking for.  Thanks, Kelly

Another error I’ll get when I try to log in is “The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.”

On the activity window these files:
    index.php?S=99c26714805629394fc82db0dcb27ae8aa48d14f&D=cp&C=css&theme=default&v=1287441909
    and
    index.php?S=6a65cd2a255f4a9e693769ba6d1bdb31942e0997&D=cp&C=javascript&M=combo_load&ui=core,widget,
    mouse,position,sortable,dialog&plugin=ee_focus,ee_notice,ee_txtarea,tablesorter,
    ee_navigation&file=cp/global&effect=core&v=1287442063

Give the error message “Operation could not be completed. Connection was reset by peer.”

I am afraid this really does look like a server issues, especially since it’s been working and suddenly stopped doing so. May I ask what version and build of EE you are using?

If you do get another “The server encountered an internal error” message there should be an accompanying HTTP 500 status message in the logs, giving us more information. Your host might be able to assist you here.

I agree. That’s what I thought, but my hosting company wasn’t admitting to any problems with the server until today. They finally got back to me with the message: “We are currently aware of an issue with the websites displaying CGI error in the footer of the website. Our engineering team is aware of the issue and working towards a resolution as soon as possible.” Hopefully they will resolve the issue. Thanks for getting back to me.

That’s progress. Let’s keep this open a bit longer until you hear back from your host.

I called them again today. They told me the matter is in their engineering department. They moved it up in priority and said they will get back to me as soon as they have a resolution.

    Hi,

Any update on this? I’m having the ‘exact’ same issue with one of my clients who insists on using iPower… Is that the same host you’re using?

    Thanks
