    I don’t have this problem.

When I code, I have to remind myself to stop and sleep, the focus on the issue at hand keeps me awake…

This is my problem too. I think if a person can’t stay awake during programming, then they may not have chose the right occupation.

I’m that way myself. Go to bad. Start thinking as I’m lying there “Oh! Wait! That’s how to do it!” Back at the keyboard again. I don’t do deadlines.  😜 Hard on the NRE budget, but at least I won’t produce another Windows Vista fiasco if I can help it.

Hopefully by now you’ve solved the desire to fall asleep problem. If not, here is another, more healthy, option: peppermint essential oil. It’s very strong. It’s cheap. You can keep a bottle in your pocket or purse. It helps you stay awake and stay focused. As a side bonus, it also is great for fever and nausea. Its very cooling to tired muscles - almost freezing actually. You simply open up the bottle and take a tiny whiff - not a big one, its very strong. Or, you can put a drop on your wrist or the back of your neck. Be careful and never get it in or near your eyes. They will water like crazy. You will be wide awake. But you will also be in pain. So, after you’ve put some on, wash your hands and don’t get them near your eyes for awhile. You can also put a drop or 2 on a cotton ball or pad and tape it to an air vent. It will make the whole room smell like peppermint. (I do that in my kid’s room when he has a fever). Anyway, best of luck staying awake.

@DolphinDeb - its interesting. Now I use ginseng extract to boost my energy. And I think it helps. It is also cheap. And the importatn thing is not to eat too much before going to bet 😊 I didn’t believe that earlier by others saying that you must not eat much before sleep, but I tried and it looks I am more fresh when I don’t overeat. The same goes for lunch - it often is so delicious and I eat too much, and then I am sleepy after eating for hour or more.
I guess another thing should be good to go to bed and get up at the same time everyday. But it is hard to do that 😊 Especially when I discuss with somebody some interesting topic, then cannnot force yourself to go to bed at the right time because want to discuss until there is nothing left to discuss.

Ginseng is great. I also find that after lunch, I sometimes have a dip in energy. I’ve found that if I take B vitamins then, it really perks me up. The best one I’ve found is by Kroeger Herbs called Anti-Fatigue. Best of luck.
