The scarcity of votes is part of the attraction, it forces people to prioritise.

This is the first time I’ve used the system as an admin rather than a customer, but from what I remember of other implementations, when features get accepted or explicitly rejected the votes get returned, allowing you to move the next feature up the board.

I think I’ve also seen a setup that gives you more votes when you buy more licenses, but that’s a way off for this and could only happen if EllisLab decided to take this on themselves. The whole debate about whether one user should have more voting power than another isn’t something I’m willing to think about the day after a company party!

There is an issue that as add-on developers are in a minority compared with end users, some of their suggestions which might have a big impact could get buried, but I’m sure Ellis Lab would be able to see those. e.g. the suggestion to “Bring back the ‘show_full_control_panel_end’ extension hook”

Member templates are looking like a pretty big issue so far.

You guys do know that member templates, in EE 2, are run through the full template parser? They are also standard HTML files in the themes folder. Much easier to work with in EE 2, and more flexible than they were in EE 1.

Not one on my list as User module exists (for an extra ontop of EE fee of course)... but i think they mean:

Move Member Profile templates in the regular EE template engine
Essentially, Solspace’s User module is just doing the obvious with member profile variables and functions: bringing them into regular templates. This essential feature should’ve been incorporated into EE2’s core from the start.

i.e. not parse member templates through the full engine.
But give access to more member stuff from the normal templates as per User module.

others might reveal more of what they mean now???

Just a quick note. The member templates thing was suggested to me and wasn’t properly vetted. As I said in a follow-up post, #7 was poorly written and researched, and not really what I was driving at.

FYI, not certain if this is done - but transcripts of the podcasts or other written material on EE updates, plans, etc. would be very welcome. I am a reader - and a speed reader at that….and it is much easier to do a quick scan of text for the parts which interest me.
