What’s the point of setting the Default language in the General config then. I’m lost

The language packs are for the control panel specifically. The translations will not carry forward to your front-end templates.

You will need to use a plugin or similar for this functionality

Don’t want to disagree with you but dates should render in the right language on the front-end too. Rob, have you checked that the language file contains translations? Some varibles need to be translated multiple times in different language files. They are at times quite messy.

lang.core.php - has that been checked?

lang.core checked and OK. I found out that the issue only appears in when solspace calendar module is activated.

The workaround: added a copy of the original solspace calendar language file (lang.calendar.php) to the module/calendar/language/dutch directory. Translated the copy language file into Dutch and voila! Both the solspace calendar rendered dates and the EE rendered date variables now are fully translated.

Don’t know exactly what happened but I’m glad it worked.

    Thanks for the assistance
