I’ve seen some references to an EE mode for Coda from Chris Ruzin, but the links aren’t working. Does anyone know where I can find it or something similar? I can’t figure out how to setup my own.

I meant an EE mode. I think that is was gives syntax highlighting. Other people have just added to existed modes like HTML, but I don’t know how to do that either.

Right now everything is highlighted nicely but EE tags are all black.

I already have some snippets but thanks so much for the offer.

Here is one for CodeIgniter. Maybe I will be able to modify this a bit.

The answer is no. I have no idea how make a mode even when working from the CodeIgniter one.

Have you made any progress on this or did you give up?

Hmm.  I’ve been waiting for this for some time now, much to no avail.  I’m going to take a stab at this, but I have no clue what I’m getting myself to and will probably end up with nothing.  Wish me luck!

Has anyone made any progress on this? Coda is certainly one of the big IDE’s out there and surprised their is no mode yet.

Snippets are just bits of code. A mode includes snippets, syntax highlighting, and auto complete for tags. A comparable IDE “Espresso” has a mode for EE but Espresso lacks some of the more robust features of Coda, and Coda is up for a big upgrade soon just as they did with Transmit. So I’d rather stick with Coda knowing the future will hold great things such as .git support hopefully.

I would be willing to work on this but also have no idea how to. If it was simply a matter of menial labor I’d be up for the task. That is adding a list of each tag, and correct color for (based on a list from EE), I’d be up for it. Maybe I or someone can look into an existing mode and try modifying it for Coda.

However I am new to development in Coda and in EE. So I imagine someone with Experience in Coda Development or EE would have an easier time figuring out how to do it.

    Cheers,

    Hey Chris,

I attempted to make an ExpressionEngine mode based off of the existing CodeIgniter one, but had very little luck.  The syntax for creating a mode went straight over my head and I just couldn’t get a good grip on it.  I encourage you to also try this approach, as you may find that it’s fairly easy.  Best of luck!

    @bitmanic Thanks for your support.

I’m a front-end developer at a company, but work with other developers each in their own niche so may tap into their knowledge as well. I’ll also check out the CodeIgniter mode and see if it would be better to start off from that mode rather than say WordPress or HTML. I’m glad you made an attempt though since as they say, “You miss a 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

Hey guys, we’ve just created a brand new ExpressionEngine 2.0 Mode for Coda, and are trying to gather any other useful EE resources for Coda and other Mac editors.

Let us know if you’ve any additional feature requests, or any other useful resources you think we should list in the Toolkit.

We all owe the Mountee team a big thanks for their hard expedited work on doing this. It’s a perfect compliment to their Mountee product for keeping EE2 Templates in sync and more!

True, I’ve used Mountee on a new site I’m just launching, and as Coda has been my indispensible editor for years, the Dev Pack and the Mountee technology itself is truly amazing!

I’ve saved SO much time and hazzle using Mountee, and it’s been rock-solid too, so I’m defenitely buying this awesome software. Along with a Dropbox account for quick ad-hoc backups (to complement Mountee’s versioning and daily backups) this is a killer solution, that I never would have thought anyone would take the time to create. So thank you very much guys, it’s just awesome 😊

Ohh, and there are extensions for TextMate and Espresso, so most developers can benefit greatly from the Dev Kit. And of course you do’t have to use the Dev Kit, it’s just a great compliment to Mountee.
