I’ve wasted a day with this—on my vacation, no less. I thought it was something wrong with my OS X testing server, so I reinstalled everything from scratch. Drupal installed without a problem, as did WordPress. I’m getting the same “Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly.” error as everyone else.
This was in beta for how long?
WHAT I DID:
Downloaded (x3) ExpressionEngine 2.x Commercial License Update with alleged “hotfixes”
Created the ee database in phpMyAdmin
Ran the server wizard - everything comes up as supported (Mac OS X 10.6.4; Apache 2.2.14; PHP 5.3.0; mySQL 5.140)
Uploaded the Expression Engine files.
Changed the necessary permissions.
Accessed /system (ran the Installation Wizard; I haven’t changed the /system directory name yet).
WHAT I EXPECTED:
The ExpressionEngine installer to load and appear.
WHAT HAPPENED:
“Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly. ” error message - plain text in the browser
