Is there any chance this could be managed by someone who works during the business hours of the day (roughly 9-6 EST)? It appears I’m being looked after by someone who starts work around 5pm EST, which is right when I’m leaving the office and I’m generally not able to answer anything useful until the next day, so we’re going 12 hours per question, at best.

Can you confirm that you have setup your domains correctly? In other words, you can access both sites via the web? Do you’ve got a link to the sites?

I believe responses #4 and #8 cover these questions, but correct me if I’m wrong.

I can access the original site and I can access static files in the new domain’s folder, but I’m not to that point yet. I’m still stuck with the fact that, when I click the second site in the sites dropdown, my site does not change. Any change I make affects the default site.

Marcus, I found out the following:

You didn’t have the right index.php file in the second folder, and I added an admin.php file to the second site so you could switch that way.

    When I did, I saw:

Notice: Undefined index: 4 in /data/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz/extensions/ext.lg_add_sitename.php on line 432

Notice: Undefined index: 4 in /data/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz/extensions/ext.lg_social_bookmarks_ext.php on line 142

So I suggest you either disable these, or contact Leevi for updates.

Ok - so I’m still not getting this to work as I would expect. When I choose a new site in the control panel, the site doesn’t change. Yes, I can access the two sites from two different control panels, but I thought the point was to be able to control them from one.

I have disabled the extensions that were throwing errors in the new directory - the errors went away but the functionality was the same. (After troubleshooting I reenabled the social plugin - the current site uses it).

What was wrong with the index.php file I was using? It was copied from the original one, which is what the docs say to do.

This product is advertised as being able to allow a user to manage all of their EE sites from one control panel and to be able to share the content of one weblog with another. I see no indication that I’m able to do either of these things by following your supplied documentation. If it does not do what I expect, what do you recommend when a group of sites need to share content? RSS is not an option.

    Marcus, try this:

    1. Completely log out of the CP
    2. Remove this line from config.php

    $conf['admin_session_type'] = "s";

    3. Clear your browser cache *and cookies*
    4. Log back in again. Any change?

When I follow your steps I’m back to one of my initial problems - I had to add that line to my config after installing MSM because I am now stuck in a login loop without it. I enter my information and log in and just get redirected right back to the login page.

While trying to figure out the issue, I logged out of the control panel and then couldn’t log back in. I entered my information and it simply returns me to the login page. I have added the following to the config and it now will allow a login, but I still have the problem of not being able to notice any change when I click a new site.

This had never happened until installing MSM.

While you’re able to access the settings for both sites, did you set the cookie domain for each site to

    .example.com

The initial dot should cover both sites (domain and subdomain) so that you can login with cookies and session IDs, instead of forcing only session IDs via config.php.

    Hi Marcus,

We have been looking at this issue over the weekend and there a couple of things that we are following up. Thank you for your patience but we’ll update this thread as soon as we can.

    Cheers

Hi. Just wanted to check for an update. The client has basically said we either need to proceed or abandon as of tomorrow, so please let me know if you’ve made any progress.

It’s basically unable to set cookies- and you have to set a cookie to switch sites in the cp (even w/sessions only).  I’m not entirely sure how the hosting is set up.  Is it set to go live?  Not using some sort of preview setting or anything?  I ask due to prior cases w/cookie issues and godaddy.

Nothing I’m aware of. The hosting is pretty run of the mill. Cookies worked fine right up until the point when I installed the MSM files and activated the add-on and that’s when they started going cooky.
