understand you point, and i maybe was leaning to their restrictions on software, apps, morality, etc!!! But for me they do have the blanket aproach and remove choice - when for example adding a parental control would have been the sensible choice!!! Age restricted apps, defined by the phone when setup - if parents chose to apply control then they can and stop complaining.

I know Apple love their white plastioc mouldings - but presenting a whiter thanh white image is a little too much!!! 😊

In flash world - like EE - right tool for the right job - if apple stole my hammer from my tool box i would not be happy chappy! even if it is a heavy & offensive weapon!!!

This essay is old now, but I haven’t seen it mentioned in this thread. Basically, the author describes some fundamental limitations of flash that make it unusable with hand-gestures, double-clicking, and context awareness (as implemented by the iPad). Flash applications could be rewritten to meet these challenges, but there are too many of them in the wild for that to ever happen. The author’s conclusion is that we can ignore marketplace politics; technical hurdles alone make Flash on iPads unlikely.

Clear points there and many of them very valid. Admittedly my phone has a optical track ball making many of these points invalid - lets be honest the iphone could make hardware changes to resolve the problems suggested above.

But does the iphone support javascript (drop down menus, etc), or css:hover, etc etc etc etc. There are many other systems supported by iphone that have the same if not similar implications - flash is a sticking point though as it probably has more than most.
