I know, there is no ETA what so ever

Yes, Pete, you’ve been around for long enough to know that.

Actually there is no nothing but a fee to use Beta and beeing a freelance bug tracker for EL.

Did you know participation was entirely optional? Feel free to not use if for the time being. Oh, and the “how can you charge for a beta” argument: as you know, the upgrade to the final release 2.1 is included. So, you basically have to options at this point (provided you want to get EE 2, that is): 1) pay now, and get early access to the beta, 2) hold off for now, pay later and get EE later. Simple a pie.

I know this will get me “burned,” but the people who have payed to get “early” access are also helping EL find bugs and create a great final released product. So the relationship goes both ways, but it helps EL tremendously. They get an earlier product out in front of people as well as “quieting” people (like me) who have been asking for EE 2.0 for a long while, plus the beta keeps interest in EE high and active.

However, you can only stay in beta so long (unless you’re Google 😉 )...

Of course it does. We never made a secret out of how much we appreciate and value feedback, bug reports and the like.

Yes, but we’re not being coy here, this is a real Beta in the original sense of the word 😊

i have to say, i am also one of these people that think the lack of news, updates, progress is a bit frustrating. I mean we used to get 2 week updates, then a post 30 days in, now nothing for 60+ days days!!! I am sure not a lot interesting has changed so it is hard to post - but keeping people up to date is valuable as interest certainly sways else where.

All that being said, for me - not much point jumping onto 2.0 anyway until a few more important extensions move over - although these are beginning to be there now.

If no news, how about some advice - i for one would like advice on developing extensions on 2.0. tutorials, lessons, videos, advice on better practises in using EE as a CMS… all valuable and interesting stuff i am sure other would also like…...............and so on…...
