I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean. It’s been stated quite clearly that all beta tester will be notified via email. Those who haven’t been weren’t selected (yet). I don’t understand what all the fuzz is about.

“the fuzz” is about this important stuff (“First Wave has been notified”, “There will be a 2nd Wave”) being announced here, on page six of a particular Forum posting, instead of more publicly on the Blog where we signed up with hopes and dreams of becoming a beta tester.

For those of us unfortunates who weren’t notified that we got a WonkaLab Golden Ticket to beta test, unless we happened to be watching this thread, it seemed like a lot of silence.  Also, considering that there are multiple ways to be contacted (such as Private Messages here in the forum, and Twitter was mentioned on the “First Wave has been Notified” post), I wanted to be sure I checked my Spam filter if it was just going to be by regular email.  Personally, I’d rather get a “Sorry, you didn’t make the cut this round, there will be a Wave 2” email than the deafening silence of defeat.

Imagine if you applied to join an elite club and they told you “don’t call us, we’ll call you”.  All the cool kids get theirs and you’re left wondering if your invite to the party got lost in the mail…

    Just my .02 cents.

I dont see any fuzziness here, i think nobody sees! I’m offering my help and my very own time for free to community that sells commercial product. I’m basicly waiting that second wave, and i know that the delay is because of the huge work EL team has with the 1st wave and Beta-users.

My hopes are that EL gets more people to their Team because seems that way that Team is getting too much work on their hands! Nobody(well me perhaps) dont work almost 24/7 with computer so it would be very good that you over there, get more people to work closely within the product called EE2!

About release dates, or invitation emailing days or what ever they are, i’ve made the same mistakes and I Know that it takes customers away from company, big or small! And the above reply of mine was just reply to quoted text! All the “autopositive” posts gives a boost to EL Team but you cant work like machines or can you? And i’m for sure, I am telling my point of view and dont polish things as a paying customer if i feel i have been misleaded. That’s my right.

So, more people to Team, only way to success, or are all EL Team members machines who can work 24/7 2 years in a row? This was in good meaning stated - more people you need IMHO!

Thanks for reading and best wishes that you dont get burnout while working!

I don’t know if you’ve participated in beta software programs before, but that’s pretty typical, and it’s not because those who aren’t invited are being snubbed, it’s just too time consuming to send rejections.  Also a beta program doesn’t want to reject those that they don’t select, since at a later time, who knows if they will be needed to be called upon?  A slot might open due to a user’s failure to participate, or there may just be a need to extend the testing.

At any rate, in our specific case, this should not have been a surprise to you, as the beta application itself stated both before and after applying:

Accepted applicants will begin receiving invitations after October 2nd, 2009, selected completely at the discretion of the staff of EllisLab, Inc.  Only those who receive an invitation will get a reply to this application.

I agree. Communication has been clear, respectful and fairly quick in response times. Many beta projects offer no communication or forum discussions – only a form through which to apply. The purpose of the beta round(s) is to identify potential hiccups, not to anoint or reward anxious enthusiasts (myself included). The idea is to fulfill the requirements of the particular phase of the beta cycle for the overall good of the application. There may be steps where only “newbies” are sought, or only those who are coming from other similar apps, or those who have proven to work heavily in a certain area of an app’s functionality.

IMO help should be offered in the spirit of actually “helping” Ellis Labs meet their current needs, rather than be “hurt” if one’s participation isn’t needed at this time.

    IMHO of course. 😊

Hey, it’s their baby and they can bring it into the world as they please.  They really couldn’t have been more clear about the beta process.

My heavily biased opinion is: Let all applicants have the beta.  Give them access to an unofficial support forum, and check it occasionally for hot topics and recurring themes.  There are advantages in numbers.

    Regardless, still hoping for Wave2.

So they officially mentioned in the Blog that the 2nd wave of Phase Two beta invitations has been sent out:

    http://ellislab.com/blog/entry/second_wave_of_phase_two_beta_invitations_sent/

I guess that’s all I was asking about, was why the first wave being sent out wasn’t mentioned in the Blog, but was instead buried here on the 6th page of a Forum post.  Maybe my prompting got them to put it on the Blog this time?

I know they can run their beta program however they like, but it’s nice to be updated “officially” as to the current status (especially for us poor folks who didn’t make it into the Beta test).

    Here’s hoping 2.0 comes quickly!
