    earph,

    The code on my search template looks like this:

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="movies" search:release-year="{segment_3}" dynamic="off"}

    Can you confirm if that is what you are trying to use for your results?

    The search has a specific tag for results. The weblog entries tag will not return results for you. The search parameter has a different function there.

    Thanks John… That’s what I was missing.

    Now, is there a way to say {if search_results} show search_results tags?

    earph,

    Glad that worked but what is your reasoning behind the conditional you suggested.

    By default if there is no results it will show a user message saying that there are no results and if there are they will be brought to your results page.

    What is your end goal here?

    The end goal is to NOT have to create another template specifically for the search and be able to use the same template to run my “custom field searches”.  So, an example would be:

    {if}
    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="movies" search:release-year="{segment_3}" dynamic="off"}
    {if:else}
    {exp:search:search_results}
    {/if}

    To be frank with you, I don’t think that’ll work. If you want to discuss some workarounds or alternative approaches I can move this thread to Howto for you, though.

    Thank Ingmar…  I’ll just start a clean thread as to not confuse this next question with the original problem.

    Very good. As always, don’t hesitate to post again as needed 😊
