Anyone has seen or used alternatives?
    Ideally I would like to have caption {ee field} and small back/front navigation (with div sliding to the next weblog entry}

It wold be used for a small handful product image rotation vs. full blow gallery or even use of gallery module.

The closest plugin I have seen is s3Slider.
Is it worth the quest or should I just conform with the flash based monoslideshow as it seems hugely popular.
    Thanks for your thoughts!

Here’s a new one I recently noticed in a feed some place:
    http://sandbox.leigeber.com/javascript-slideshow/
It’s not jQuery though, but watch for a port, that usually happens.

    Thanks Crssp-ee,
I could manage to produce something with my own JS collection from way back but I been on jquery kick lately so trying to stick with it. Monoslideshow looks really nice and it seems to integrate with EE. Maybe using flash is not a sin anymore 😊. Thanks for the link, I will try to implement a hybrid JS based first.
    Thanks again.

You could always build your own system using jQuery.  Especially with something like a slideshow I imagine it wouldn’t be too much work to get exactly what you want from scratch.

    Hi Jamie,
It certainly looks like the way to go since I don’t want to impose flash if not needed…I was just trying to save time if there already is a jquery plugin. In the worst case I learn some jquery and loose some hair 😊

jQuery actually makes Javascript a bit of fun.  Not having to worry about how you are going to select/affect something in the page is a wonderful thing.  Add the standardized animation stuff and live gets a lot easier.  I used to get everything working in Firefox and then attempt Safari and IE last.  Sort of like how I still have to do CSS minus the Safari part.  Most of the time with jQuery though it just works in all three with no problems.

Check out the Cycle plugin and associated demo pages. There are lots of cool features in that one.

    Also check out :

    Agile Carousel

    and

    Easy Slider

Both really cool. Also check out the rest of those two sites you will find some really neat things lurking in there. Another great place to go is :

    Ajax Rain

Another great site. There are loads out there to find and hopefully these will help out a little bit.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

The Cycle plugin is awesome, Cycle Lite is nice if you are watching your bytes.

jCarousel Lite can do some nice things.

Galleria is well-written and pretty easy to use too.
