It’s with great excitement and anticipation that today we announce the public release of ExpressionEngine 6. ExpressionEngine version 6 in many ways represents more than just a new major version; it’s also the dawn of a new era in the ExpressionEngine world.
ExpressionEngine 6 from the start has been all about elevating the user experience. From the new interface, refined interactions, functionality and new feature additions. It’s all designed to give you the best user experience. To say version 6 was a large undertaking would be an understatement. Beyond the new user experience ExpressionEngine 6 is also setting the stage for what’s to come.
While ExpressionEngine 6 represents the dawn of a new era, we feel it’s very appropriate to say THANK YOU to EllisLab, and the team that has worked tirelessly for more then 15 years with the leadership of Rick Ellis, Leslie Camacho, and Derek Jones to ultimately make ExpressionEngine what we the community know and love. It was under their leadership at EllisLab that ExpressionEngine became the most popular paid content management system in the world, and CodeIgniter one of the most popular PHP frameworks was released. Thank you, from both us and the community at large.
ExpressionEngine 6 has been roughly 2 years in the making, comprised of a year of thoughtful attention from the team at EllisLab, and a year of hard work and dedication from our team as the new owners of ExpressionEngine. It represents the last steps of EllisLab and the first steps down the familiar yet different path with Packet Tide at the helm. We invite you to come and see what we’ve been up to, and join us in our relentless pursuit of delivering value and innovation to the world.
