Super Images

Super Images is the image engine for ExpressionEngine 7: transform, encode (WebP/AVIF), optimize, and deliver derivatives from local or S3-compatible storage — one pipeline for templates, CLI, queue, and the Control Panel.

Super Images gives ExpressionEngine sites a production-ready image pipeline without bolting on scattered plugins or CDN-only workflows.

What it does

• Resize, crop, fit, fill, and enrich images with GD, Imagick, or Libvips (auto picks the best available driver)
• Encode modern formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF) with tunable quality/effort and optional binary optimizers (jpegoptim, cwebp, avifenc, and more)
• Store derivatives on local disk or S3 / Spaces / R2 with deterministic paths — change a transform and you get a new file, not a stale cache
• Deliver responsive / via tags (image, picture, url) or the file modifier, with generate-before-page-load or signed runtime URLs
