A simple mail transport for routing, testing, and monitoring emails.
Mailroom is a modern email delivery layer for ExpressionEngine, built for the messages your site cannot afford to lose. Contact forms, password resets, member notifications, admin alerts, order confirmations, and client-critical emails all depend on delivery working exactly when it should.
Mailroom routes ExpressionEngine email through reliable transports, logs each attempt, tracks failures, supports retries, and gives developers plain-English diagnostics inside the EE Control Panel.
No more mystery mail.
ExpressionEngine can send email, but when something breaks, the answer is often buried in SMTP settings, server rules, provider responses, or a client’s Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace configuration.
Mailroom closes that gap. Every message gets a record: who it was sent to, where it came from, which transport handled it, whether it succeeded, what the provider returned, and what needs attention if it failed.
Existing EE email sends can continue using the normal ExpressionEngine APIs and template tags. Once routing is enabled, Mailroom listens for EE email activity and handles delivery through the configured default transport.
No new template tags required. No second form system. No guessing whether the message actually went anywhere.
Built for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Most client sites live in the real world of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, managed hosting, changing authentication rules, and “why did the form stop working?” support tickets. Mailroom is designed around that reality.
Microsoft 365 support is built around a single authenticated sender, with Microsoft Graph delivery, OAuth-based SMTP support, and clear diagnostics for common tenant, sender, permission, and authentication issues.
Google Workspace support follows the same practical approach, including Gmail API delivery through service account authentication and domain-wide delegation for Workspace environments.
Generic SMTP is available for traditional providers, while Mailpit-compatible capture gives developers a clean path for local and staging testing.
Test before you trust it.
Mailroom includes transport-level test tools so you can confirm a provider is working before routing real site mail. Configure a transport, send a test message, review the provider response, and fix issues before a client’s contact form becomes the test case.
Diagnostics help confirm the pieces that matter: database tables, default transport, routing status, email hook behavior, provider configuration, and transport health.
When something fails, Mailroom aims to tell you why in human terms instead of handing you a useless wall of provider noise.
