Formidable brings modern forms to ExpressionEngine: build them in a drag-and-drop builder or straight from your own template markup, then manage submissions, automate workflows and connect them to the services you already use. Everything is built right in and the markup is yours.

Formidable is the new forms add-on for ExpressionEngine.

Build forms visually in the control panel, with pages, sections, repeating rows, conditional logic and computed fields. Or write your form in your own template markup and let Formidable capture it, with no rebuilding. Either way, your markup stays yours: Formidable ships with themes for plain HTML, Tailwind and Bootstrap, and every class and attribute can be set from the control panel.

Behind every form is a complete back office. Submissions get statuses, saved views, filtering, exports and one-click actions like Approve or Reject. Workflows send branded emails, call webhooks or push to your CRM and mailing lists, and every run is logged so you can replay it if something went wrong. Visitors can save a long form and come back later, edit their answers, or upload files straight into ExpressionEngine’s file manager.

It’s built to be trusted. Encrypted fields, honeypots, rate limits and CAPTCHA support (reCAPTCHA, Turnstile, hCaptcha) are included, and every submission is checked again on the server. It’s accessible out of the box, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA.

For developers, there’s a JSON API for headless sites, form blueprints you can export and import, command-line tools and extension hooks, plus documentation that covers it all.
