EEConf 2024 is around the corner! EEConf 2024
I am running EE 6.0.6 and when I load my site in Chrome (on PC or Mac) or Safari the CSS do not load on the website or for the CMS. I tried doing an update to version 6.2.1 and I get an error saying the update stopped on “Preflight check” which tells me absolutely nothing about what I need to troubleshoot. Can anyone help me here?
Thanks!
I’m not using EE6 so much so I’m not sure. Did you check to see that you could actually reach the CSS file and themes using that path? The reason I ask is that many times in the past I would check the path over and over and only eventually find out I had some small error. For example, with the website, if you look at the source code, can you reach the CSS by clicking on the link?
Sorry if this all sounds simple, but I’ve often run into situations where the path “looked” correct to me, but in fact it wasn’t.
Yeah, but did you check independently that those paths actually work? Like checking in the source code of the displayed website that clicking on the link shown there to the CSS file actually takes you there?
In other words, it’s usually a path issue or that the files aren’t existing at that path.
The CSS do not load for the the developer console and there are no errors that I can see. The CSS do load if I use Firefox and I see no errors.
On the front end the CSS do not load for the website when I just go to the domain (www.domain.com) and I check the source code and I can click on the CSS link and they are linked properly because they load fine when I go directly to the CSS file. If I go to the domain with www.domain.com/index.php the CSS for the website load properly and load for every page properly just not the main page.
The CSS do not load in Chrome (PC or Mac) and Safari (Mac). When I load the website the CSS do not load but when I view source and click on the CSS link the code for the CSS file comes up just fine. This is true for the website’s main page only when I go to just the domain only, when it has index.php the CSS load just fine. The CSS also don’t load for the EE control panel, but when I view source and click the CSS link in the code the CSS file loads just fine.
Do you mind posting the URL here, so we can check? Does this happen with all CSS files or just with a specific one? Something must be happening in the rendering stage or the path is wrong while it tries to load the file. CSS is user side code so there is no reason why the browser should not render it unless it’s not properly sending the file or it’s sending the output as something else (wrong headers) but I don’t think that would the issue. Its probably something far more simple to fix.
Its probably related to some index.php rule assuming you modified the .htaccess files.
Did you check the web server logs to see if there are any errors logged as well?
I think private messages are disabled here, so you can’t post it on private, sadly, but you can contact me on Slack if you want.
