A Greeting Card to Third Party Developers

a developer
extend our code bend our app
growing up so fast

I wanted to take a moment today to acknowledge all of the hard working third party developers in our community, as well as draw attention to the growth spurt that we’ve seen in that area.  In the last 18 months, perhaps two years, a major shift began taking place in the third party developer community.  It used to be that extending ExpressionEngine was largely about creating one-off add-ons for a specific site or user.  There...

Second Wave of Phase Two Beta Invitations Sent

Beta applicants, check your emails, another batch of invitations was just sent out.  This wave will reach our intended goal for total participants for this phase of beta, so it will likely be the last of the invitations to go out.  We will hang on to all invitations, though, in the event that we need to broaden our sample.

For those who received invitations, welcome to the beta!  Nearly 100 bugs have been fixed in the last eight days, so we continue to be happy with the progress of the...

October is ExpressionEngine Month

This is going to be a big month for the EE Community, so let’s dig in!

The EE Roadshow

October kicked off with the EE Roadshow. Rick Ellis, Lisa Wess, and I took the short jump up to Seattle from Oregon to hang out with the community.

I was impressed with the quality of the presentations. From Happy Cog to Grist.org to the Add-on Dev Roundtable and everyone in between, it was high quality through and through. I was tired and worn out by the end, but every minute was worth it.

We...

We are go for Phase Two of the ExpressionEngine 2.0 Beta. There is a good chance that this will be the final beta round prior to public release. That’s not a promise, but that’s certainly our goal. Should that change, we’ll update you on the blog as usual.

Beta1 Drawing to a Close

Beta1, without question, has been a resounding success. We’ve said that already but as Beta1 enters its final days its worth saying again.

We hit a significant milestone last week with a UI breakthrough that the entire team is thrilled with. Based on the feedback from Team Beta, the custom click tracking, and working with the talented Veerle Pieters we’ve kept what worked best, cut out what wasn’t working at all, and redesigned a few key points. In all the changes may appear small but...

SXSW Panels, UI Sprint, Usage Survey

If you are doing a SXSW Panel that in some way involves ExpressionEngine or CodeIgniter, post about it in the discussion thread for this post. We are putting together a blog post about EE SXSW panels in order to get them as many votes as possible. We know about Kenny Meyer’s & Happy Cog’s ExpressionEngine 2.0: Total Domination! panel, any others? I suspect so. Don’t be shy, let us know!

I know skeptics will ask, justifiably, “will 2.0 be out by SXSW 2010”, the answer is yes. Given our...
