I have made no mods the Edit tab has just started timing each time the user clicks it. It goes to a blank screen timing out. This is holding up a launch that was supposed to go Friday and I am just stuck?

Please any solutions would be appreciated even a carton of beer!

What version/build are you running?  You can find both values in the footer of your control panel.  Also, what extensions do you have installed?  If you disable them by going to Admin -> Utilities -> Extensions Manager and hitting the green button on the top right, will it load?

It’s worth checking to see if their internet connection is ok, and if their hosting is having any issues. This sort of thing has affected some customers of mine (not just EE sites either).

humm.  So we are all on the same page, can you please back everything up, including your database, and update to 1.6.6?  I’d like to see if that could shake out any bugs.

Can you please try to go into phpmyadmin and try to repair and optimize all tables.  Let’s see what that might do.

Also, do you have access to sever logs?  We might be able to find something in the error log that could give us a clue.

Greg I have repair and optimize all tables. Still nothing?!

I have access to the server logs what am I looking at? they are listed below. I am a designer btw excuse the hand holding required.

    access_log
    access_log.processed
    error_log
    xferlog_regular
    xferlog_regular.processed

I looked in error_log and there is nothing obvious relating to EE

no need to apologize, that’s what we are here for.  😊  First thing, which I’m not dead sure if it will fix it or not, but it appears that your cache files can’t be written to.

Can you go to you system/cache folder, dump everything in it, and please verify that the permissions on that folder are set to 777.

Report back, and let us know what that yields.

I have one of my dev team here to help here is an update of where we are at.

    stuff we’ve done
    1) increased the memory_limit to 48M in php.ini
    2) chmod 777 to all cache files and directories
    3) turned safe_mode off on php.ini
    4) increased max_execution_time to 300

there are >1000 categories ... it’s running over 30seconds atm ... but it is loading!

The categorys are there because I am using

    CSVGrab (v.0.2.1)
Allows you to import data from a CVS feed and into a weblog

Do you want to have login to have a quick look?

ah, I think your problem may be the 1,000 categories.  Sit tight, as I’m going to do some checking with the team, and we will get back to you.

    Thanks,

I’m not dead sure the errors in the log are pre/post upgrade.  But do me this- if you have any extensions installed, disable all of them- ‘Admin- Utilities- Extensions Manager’ - big button, top right.  Assuming the error logs are on 1.6.6, looks like it may be a hook where it bogs down.

Also- it’s only the edit page showing the slow load time, nowhere else?

    I dont have any extensions.

It is only the EDIT tab that has the slow loading time 31 seconds.

PM if you want login to look.

    Greg any news?

    Cheers Guys
